A customer of mine is donating her old road bike to me. I will need to fix it up, but my co worker is an avid cyclist. When its ready to do, what do I need to get going? A plan? Take it easy for a month then work harder? I would eventually like to do duathlons and then triathlons.
What should i know as a beginner? I honestly can't remember the last time I rode a bike sober.
Go ready my bio for lots of cycling advice. The first thing is to make sure that the bike fits. If it doesn't it can cause physical problems, just like ill fitting running shoes. Your local bike shop can help with that, but expect to pay a fee for it since you did not buy the bike from them. The best thing a new cyclist can do to ride is ride the bike. Don't worry about a training plan for now. Also, check out your local cycling and triathlon clubs to see if they offer beginner rides, classes, and clinics.
