I've never ventured over here but am thinking I need to. I bought an older (1962) house in Colorado with SO back in September and, after almost six months of being patient in the space, just thinking and figuring things out, we're about to undertake a boat load of redecorating, painting, and projects before his parents come out in July. We've also got a huge, amazing yard that we're starting to prep for summer, including putting in a garden. We're both completely and totally in love with this place as it already is and can't wait to start making it our own.
About us: SO and I have known each other 15 years and dated seriously a long time ago. We just got back together a year ago after finding each other again on FB. He moved up here from out of town 5 months ago, one month after we closed on the house and I moved in with DS first. Plan to get hitched but not actively planning it. I have a 6 year old DS from my first marriage. We have a 9 year old yellow lab and 3 year old Boston Terrier. Both of us work from home (he's an editor and I'm a contractor attorney) so loving our space is ridiculously important to us.
Anyway, hello! I'm hoping to get lots of ideas and input from you ladies.
Welcome! I have an older house too. It was originally built in 1910 but it had an addition and some updating in the 60s. Good luck on all your remodeling and redecorating!
Be sure to post pictures of your home...we love pictures!
All I have is exterior pictures. These are from the RE listing this last summer. It's an early 1960's ranch/bungalow, 2200 sq. ft (1100 up/1100 finished basement) 4BR, 2.5BA on a .25 acre lot. We also have a 2 story artist studio in the back yard. I'm going to start the interior before pics as I get going on each project.
Front Back patio
Back yard from corner with seller stuff. We kept the playground and picnic table for DS. Garden space. We want to put a pergola and sitting area with a gas fire pit on the brick pad.
Hey Red! Love your house still and your yard is to die for. We are doing a ton of reno right now and living in our house during it. We keep getting stymied by the snow. Ready for spring already
Hiya and welcome. I love hearing that a 1962 house is older. My 'new' house is from 1910, the condo is built into an 1820s Victorian and my first house was from 1950. The regional differences that people post are so cool. I love learning new things here.

I would LOVE a house that age, but in Denver metro those houses have all been bought, gutted, flipped, redone and sold for more than double our budget. Someday. Someday.
