Honestly, I promise, bone spurs are not a big deal. They are far scarier sounding than they actually are. Your gums hurt because they're inflammed (duh) but once the dentist takes it out (which will be nothing like having your wisdom teeth out. Like I said, a lot of the time we don't even have to numb patients to remove bone spurs) the relief will be pretty immediate.
It still sucks, though, and I'm still sorry you're having to deal with it.
Are you in the teeth industry? I had no idea! Honestly, I hope they numb it because this thing feels pretty big. (Twss)
So I had my wisdom teeth out two weeks ago and last week I was starting to feel like maybe there was more bone in there that needed to come out in one of the bottom sockets. By Friday it was really hurting and swollen, so I called and went in to have it checked. Dentist cut into it and said there wasn't anything in there and to come back in a week if it was still bothering me. Well, guess what just popped through the side of my gum? Bone. So now I have to go back in tomorrow and have it removed. Ugh!
I had that and had to go in three additional times. I also had a dry socket. I am afraid to get the others pulled. Hope you feel better!!!
I had my "dissolvable" stitches randomly popping out of my gums for over a year. Are you positive it's tooth or bone?
I had a dissolvable stitch pop out while I was taking an order for a table at work. Luckily, it landed in my order book and nobody noticed. I was mortified and disgusted.

Dude, I missed my calling as a dentist. All things teeth related are completely fascinating. I love this thread (except for the pain that you're in - that part sucks. Sorry).

I am. I was a dental assistant, but now I work in the front office.
This happened to me last year...and I had my wisdom teeth removed in 1998. So 14 years later I started getting small pieces of bone sticking out the side of my gums. They hurt like a bitch and I couldn't get a hold of them to pull them out myself.
THREE different occasions I had to go to the dentist over a month or so. Dentist said if it happened again I'd need to see a surgeon about filing down the bone or something. Thank goodness it hasn't happened again.

Gah!!!
I am counting the minutes until the dentist's office opens. I should just go sit on the doorstep, lol.
