I love them! Keep them for sure. They look a lot like my neighbors. I think she just did a clear stain (or didn't stain not sure how it works) and they are soooo much prettier than the honey oak floors I inherited. When we do our bedroom I plan on copying her.
Yes. Those look like turn of the last century (1900s-1910s) floors with inlay. When you refinish, be careful with that inlay or hire someone familiar with inlay. In that era of floors, people generally used thick wooden planks that should refinish beautifully.
The house was built in 1918. I'm not sure if the floors have ever been redone but we don't think so. They're so scuffed and scratched in places though that they drive me crazy. Especially when I compare them with the new floor that was just laid down in our master bedroom in the attic. So new and shiny! lol. DH is committed to keeping them; I just hope they can be brought back to look better.

I'd keep them too. My parents had the floors in my grandmother's house refinished & now they're beautiful. It's so much more unique than what's out there now & has similar detailing to what is in your pictures.

Scuffs & scratches can be sanded down. Keep them & stain then darker if you don't like the color.

I'm sure they will look great when refinished. Honestly, from the photos they look pretty great right now.
Ours looked AWFUL--full of scratches, stains, spots without any finish left--and they looked totally different when they were done. Refinishing made a huge difference.

Keep them, and personally I would just do the clear coat. FYI, this are termed Depression floors, around the Depression the cost standard width flooring was out of anyones price range, so they went with narrow and thin wood. Get a skilled refinisher as these will need extra care. They are not as thick as most hardwood and you don't want them over sanding.
