Because I am so freaking far behind right now, I'm never going to catch up. So why not procrastinate?
- It's 360 assessment time, and I somehow got picked by 14 people. I hate 360s. They don't allow for comments, just ratings, so it's kind of pointless feedback. And since it's now tied to our bonuses/raises, it makes it more annoying, because I would never give anyone less than a "Usually." I don't want to be the reason they don't get more $$, even if they suck. So now I'm in a moral quandary because our shitty, shitty Marketing Director sent me a request, and he's fucked me over so hard. And he sucks. But I will probably stick with Usually, because I'm not his boss, and (again) there's no space for comments.
- I just bought tickets for Johnny Marr at the Paradise in May. I figure if it's highly unlikely that The Smiths will ever actually get back together, even for a show, so at least I can say I've seen half of them in concert. (I've seen Morrissey a few times.)
- I have 34 fellowship applications to rank by next Wednesday. Oh, and 12 others to do by this Wednesday. All while getting ready for a high-maintenance program that starts on Sunday. And I am pretty sure that the fire fellowship ones are on their way. Do you know how boring it is to read twenty to thirty applications about trucks/ladders/hoses? Ugh. This time of the year is the worst.
- I didn't even realize that we change the clocks this weekend until I got an email from my faculty chair with the subject, "Panic: Daylight Savings Time." I forwarded it to H, who replied. "Panic: Daylight Savings Time sounds like a Hong Kong action movie title that they translated into English and doesn't quite make sense." And that is why I love him, heh.
LOL at that last one! And I must be mean, because I would totally give someone a bad rating if they sucked, and fucked me over. DH says some of the dead wood as his company is getting $0 for bonuses this year, while the guy next to them may be getting >$10K. Such is the way of the world...
Randoms: why do we get DD toys for Christmas/her birthday that are solely outdoor toys and can't be used for at least another month?
I am so tired of feeling sick. At this point I'm down to just a sore throat, but it's annoying
I have never been so happy to get rid of my ILs and get my house back. They even annoy DH. I had to bite my tongue while MIL yelled at GMIL most of the morning
I need to find a good charity to unload toys on. I just purged big time
I posted this in MM's randoms today, but I'll do it again. SO's batshit crazy mother added my father on Facebook. My parents haven't met his parents yet, and it's probably for a good reason. So she adds him, then sends him three long winded messages over the course of an hour detailing how much she loves me and how she can't wait until I'm part of the family. I'm not sure if ^o) or is the right emoticon to use here. I think someone had too much sambuca or allen's last night.
Now she's messaging me because I didn't respond to her message from last night at 1am. SO hasn't put a ring on my finger, I can still bail on his crazy ass family, right?

A woman just walked by the front of the building drunkenly belting out the Star Spangled Banner. She was carrying an open gatorade cup that I'm guessing did not have gatorade in it. Oh and she was in her 50s. And did a much better job than I would have singing it sober or drunk.

I love this. Things like this are why I would never, ever move out to the sticks.
I really want to rip the asshole a new one, honestly. He's so awful at his job, but they refuse to fire him for a host of ridiculous, no good reasons. I may still do it. Maybe I'll save his for when I'm in a REALLY bad mood.
And the 14 does not include my self-assessment, nor does it include my manager's. So in total, I have 16 freaking bubble-filled screens to complete. And I guess I shouldn't worry about bonuses this year - we're down $500k in income thanks to sequestration, and it could be more if they don't get their shit together by April. (Our biggest programs are for the Feds - typically they get 80 people in each session. This month, they had 49. And April's session isn't looking much better right now.)
Rock, that dress is really pretty! And I hope you're feeling better soon, DrL. It sucks when colds/whatevers just. effing. linger. Though I bet having your house back will help.
I am so tired of wedding planning right now. I feel my mind is a constant to do list and we are just spending tons of money left and right.
Part of me wishes we could just do the city hall wedding and then just have a vacation down in the Turks and Caicos!!
I know in the end I'll want the ceremony and reception with all my friends, but the planning is so freaking exhausting. I'm so looking forward to time off with no wedding stuff to do.

Yikes, sounds about like my crazy future MIL!! I had no idea that other families were so crazy and dysfunctional until and met my FI's.

One of the staff assistants here printed off an email and left it on my desk. It was from someone named Donald, who was sending over a recommendation form, and he wrote the email in almost all caps. She wrote in marker on the bottom of it, "QUIT YELLING AT ME, DONALD." I seriously cannot stop laughing, and I pinned it to my bulletin board.
She told me later that she was afraid she'd accidentally send it to him if she tried to forward it to me, so she printed it off. I love her for this.

This is hilarious!
My random: My IT guy's name is Kevin Bacon, and I have to stifle laughter everytime he calls and says "Hi, it's Kevin Bacon". (It just happened).

There are some actually-famous-in-certain-circles people who work here, and I always forget that they're famous because I see them in the cafe, or have meet with them for programs or whatever.* So sometimes participants will be all excited and point someone out to me, and I'm like, "eh. He's late for everything, and kind of a dick. But yes, yes. Very exciting."
* Or in the case of someone who may or may not have worked for the treasury, attempting repeatedly to open a very locked door with no keys. Ahem.

I'm still sad I haven't seen John Malkovich wandering about Cambridge yet.

Me too, ville. Sean Penn was here the other day, and I totally missed him.
Of course, I also stood around watching them film some of The Town at Grendel's and totally couldn't pick Ben Affleck out of a line-up. I didn't even realize he was there in plain sight, until the dude next to me said to his friend, "I'll give you $100 if you yell, 'yo Affleck! You were the bomb in Phantoms!'" And then I had to walk away, because I was DYING. (In my defense, I was too busy looking for Jon Hamm. Because yeah. Affleck is nice and all, but Jon Hamm is on my laminated list.)
Ugh I am still at work. And tomorrow I have a morning meeting at 7 am and then an evening event that goes until 8:00 pm. So I will be at work for 14 hours AGAIN tomorrow.
I just keep telling myself that I get Fridays off in the summer and that next week is Spring Break and I have a week off.

How is it that grown adults who live and work in the world do not understand the concept of time zones? Some asshole sent us an email at 6:07 pm last night, and then left me a voicemail at 7:30 pm wanting to know if we got it. I ALREADY SPEND ENOUGH TIME AT WORK; I AM NOT STAYING HERE UNTIL CALIFORNIA CLOSES FOR THE DAY.
(Also, I just sent that exact rant to H, but with more caps, and then ended the email with I JUST WANNA BE A DOPER PERSON WHICH STARTS WITH ME NOT ALWAYS TELLING PEOPLE HOW DOPE I THINK I AM. Because it looked like a Kanye tweet, heh.)
I absolute understand the timezone issue. I support people in Europe and our HQ is on the West Cost. So I get ticked off when I check my email from my phone when i first wake up and see all this back and forth and excessive CCing occurring trying to resolve an issue when I'm not even awake to do anything. After Europe signs off noon or 1 (they never ever work 'late') then I accomplish my to-dos before California picks up... I do normally stay online until about 6pm and sadly check my phone for email but do get very annoyed with 9pm and later emails from CA. in which they want an immediate response. My feeling is if they cant get up earlier then I cant stay up later... (most will tell me CA traffic is horrible and they'd prefer to be in the office around 930-10am PT time and leave after 6pm PT time, I understand but just be aware of the timezones!)
In addition anyone that calls me to check if I got an email that they have sent in the last 24 hours I automatically add to the bottom of the list. I can read, I can manage my inbox and its 2013 you dont need to check that the email went through to my inbox.

Pretty much this. Did you get a bounceback? No? Then the odds are good that I got your email and am busy. I also hate when people leave a vm, then call back within an hour and leave another one. And sometimes more than one. Give me time to answer you! Other pet peeves: people who leave a vm and say "I have a question, can you call me back?" TELL ME WHAT YOUR QUESTION IS IN YOUR MESSAGE. I don't want to have to dig around to find the answer for you while I'm on the phone. Also, we get a lot of international peeps, and a lot of time they'll leave a vm saying "Please call me back" with no number and no name/unintelligible name. Dude, I am not psychic. If you don't tell me either your name or your number, I can't call you back.

Today's random story; at the rec center there was a dad there with the mom and kids, who is not normally there. I mentioned I was leaving to hit up sketchy basket and she starts laughing and her husband is like OMG I went last week and it was INSANE!! She typically goes but he had the week off and went for the first time. She was like I tried to warn him but he didn't listen... This poor guy was completely traumatized. He's like some old lady tried to steal my broccoli and I got cart checked and it took 2 hours to check out and on and on. The rest of us were like, dude that's the norm. If you don't keep your eye on your cart people start stealing from it. This totally blew his mind.
Oh yeah! So once Dave got some bananas. They had just put out some ripe ones. All the others were very very green. He had to guard those things like gold. The woman trying to take this poor guy's broccoli was like but the freezer aisle is way over there, can I have yours?
Oh yeah, MB turns you into Lord of the Flies. I cart check and elbow people out of my way when I'm there, which I would never think to do in another other environment.
I also think the Somerville MB is a whole different animal. I went to the Woburn MB a few weeks ago, on a Saturday no less, and was shocked at how civilized it was in comparison.
Yeah, Somerville MB is in its own category. I used to go to the Salem MB all.the.time and it was not at all like that.
The notice of the court's decision on my divorce arrived today! I just have to make a stop at the courthouse to pick up the official decree. It feels so nice to have that paper, although it is a little strange knowing that I have been legally divorced about a month and a half (it is backdated to January).
Thank you, RockNVoll. It does feel good. I cannot wait to have my maiden name back, although the process of changing my name back will be such a hassle.

Congrats on it being official. I hope the name changing process goes smoothly!
