The previous owners had their entertainment center in one specific location in our living room that we've decided we don't like and/or just doesn't work. We moved ours to a different wall (to the left in the picture, sofa with chaise in front of huge window to the right) and now want to use the previous wall as a focus wall with a good, rich accent color and then buy a really nice piece of large art work to hang on there. Thinking we'll put some low, bench style seating on that wall as well. Only thing is, the previous owners installed two electric outlets about 4 feet off the floor, right in the middle of the wall. I can see the utility in having them there if your electronics are on that wall but is it just going to look really weird if we paint that wall and leave them? There's another outlet in a normal placement on the wall.
WWND? Take out the plugs and drywall and paint over them or just leave them?
(Excuse our mess. And I'd ask for input on the paint colors too but they all look completely different in this picture. They're not as orange IRL.)
I would probably just leave them and cover them with large art, unless I was having other work done elsewhere at the same time. I try not to do anything with electrical other than switching out a light or a switch though.
It makes total sense to have them there for an entertainment center, but they look odd in the middle of a wall otherwise. I'd probably just patch over them if you're sure you don't want your tv there.
Meh. My basement is full of outlets like that. Some intentional for a future bar/e center area. Some I swear the electrician was just thinking "hey, this would be nice..lol!"
I actually like them up there becuase child can't get anywhere near them at this point. Also comes in handy for things like the vaccuum and console table lamps. Also, I don't really notice them. It's NBD when you live with it. And maybe other people notice but no one has ever said, "hey, what's up with the outlets!"
