Hey all. I'm a regular paleo gal but not a coffee drinker. So don't take this the wrong way, I am actually just curious.
What is the deal with coffee? From what I understand, coffee is okay (however, I haven't researched much since I don't drink it). So, if that's the case, and people "require" it sweetened/creamer or they don't like the taste of it, then why on earth are y'all trying to find ways to enjoy it still? Why not just cut it out entirely?
To me, that would be like puting frosting on poo and eating it and when you are cutting out frosting you have to find something else to make the poo taste good? Why not just no poo? Do you find there are benefits besides caffeine to drinking it? Or are you drinking it for the caffeine?
I try to eat paleo as best as I can. I admit, I fail because I am weak sometimes. But in my brain, cutting out the caffeine would be important if I had to have it, no?
Please don't be offened, I'm genuinely curious. Thanks!
I'm not Paleo, but I enjoy coffee with cream and I can't imagine giving it up. It is the combination of coffee and cream that make it so amazing. There are plenty of foods that taste better when consumed together, I am sure some folks eats salads without dressing but gosh why bother?

I drink my coffee black and when I was following paleo I really never gave it a second thought. Ditto the ladies that said it is necessary for survival.
I did give up coffee, but more because I wanted to test myself (and stop spending $5 a day on Starbucks . With that said, Paleo isn't necessarily all or nothing and I don't judge anyone who needs their daily caffeine fix! I've read in people's blogs that they use heavy whipping cream in place of creamer/milk.
I did try unsweetened coconut milk in homebrew but did not like it at all. Now I drink a really cold glass of water in the morning and it gets me going .

I love coffee. I love the smell and sound of it brewing. I love the feel of the warm mug in my hand. The first warm sip. The slight buzz after I have finished it.
I've always drank it black.
I would give up chocolate and alcohol before I would give up coffee.
Only if you grow/pick/dry the ingredients yourself.
Kidding. I drink tea occasionally and keep a pitcher of unsweetened tea in the fridge. I don't know if that will get me in trouble with the paleo police, but it is refreshing in the Mid-Atlantic heat.

I drink coffee, mostly out of habit. I could drink it black, it doesn't bother me, but I do add some heavy cream to it most days. The more I drank it black to more I like and appreciate coffee. I drank one of those keurig flavored cups and it was sick! It tasted really chemically. Now that I don't put a bunch of sugar in my coffee I can actually taste the difference between bold/medium/light roasts.
I almost never drink it because I like it sweetened. On the extremely rare occasion I have it, I sweeten with stevia and use heavy cream (I have no issues with dairy although I only consume butter and cream with my rare coffee).
If I can't eat following a lifting workout, I will mix frozen coffee cubes with frozen cubes of pumpkin, protein powder, pumpkin pie spice and a few drops if stevia and blend for a shake. That happens about once a month or so.
I drink a ton of unsweetened tea (I buy and brew at home).
Mmmm, coffee...I don't drink multiple cups a day like my H does, but oh how I love it. Usually, I'll drink it with either half and half or hazelnut coconut milk creamer. Or occasionally, those most yummy and delicious and so damn artificial flavored creamers but only when I'm out somewhere that has the little individual cups or when I see a flavor at the grocery that looks particularly delicious
I drink it daily. And oftentimes tea too. Since I do dairy, I either use half and half, raw milk, coconut milk, or almond milk. No sugar for me, I hate sweet coffee. Even if it's not technically paleo, it's in my 20 of my 80/20 .
