we have a largish master closet that we just had someone come out and install a system in, in doing so they had to rip out all the board that were up to hold the previous shelves/ rod so now the walls look like crap. they are currently dingy white in most spots but it must be painted something. The new closet system is white, would you stick with a more nuetral paler color or go for somthing fun and bold? I can't decide
My craft closet has bright royal blue walls and white shelving. My clothes closets have bright white walls. My clothes closets are kind of dark so having bright white walls helps to maximize the little light that is there. I also use satin paint to up the sheen as another trick for maximizing light.
If you have a lot of light in your closets, it is a great place for a pop of color that you otherwise wouldn't use.

I'd probably do white just because if I ever moved, I don't want to be repainting closets. (I have a closet that is lavendar faux-finished at the old house and still needs repainted.
it's actually off the bathroom, which will be rainwashed. the bathroom is off the bedroom which is, I forget the name, but dark tan. I was either going to go with a pale tan I guess to tie in with those or a bold bright pink (DH says he could not care less what color the closet is so do what I want)
Something from the same card as rainwashed would be pretty. One color up maybe. It would be pretty, but not necessarily fun or exciting....not sure if you want calm or exciting in your closet.lol
I would choose a color that makes me happy and helps make my clothes more visible.
Our closet is pale gray now (painted for selling) and is actually brighter and more flattering to the colors than the former yellow/gold color was. I am not a yellow fan anyway, but the paint was left over from the crazy fun Moroccan themed bedroom we used to have, and was light...the other colors were very dark.
Almost all I wear is black, ((DH's wardrobe is much more colorful),so a dark color is out or I would never be able to find anything.lol
I think I might go for the bold. there is a lot of white in there with the closet system so I think it will work. plus I just want something fun. if I hate it and have to repaint it in a couple months oh well

Find a color that makes you happy and go for it!
We have a guest room that is sort of a Tiffany box blue, but maybe a bit more vibrant, and it makes me smile every time I go past the room or catch a glimpse of it. I think I might actually spend enough time to hang up my clothes in a closet that color. ;p

Paint it a bold color that makes you happy whenever you go into your closet. My closet is one of the last DIY projects I'm going to get to, but when I finally get do, I'm planning on a really bold color like purple...something that makes me feel like I'm in my own boutique whenever I walk in to choose an outfit for the day
Our bedroom is a medium gray, bathroom a light gray, so we painted our closet the same light gray as the bathroom. There is a lot of white with the shelves etc so the gray offers a nice contrast, but still light enough to keep it bright.
