I would say that in terms of Canada as a whole Montreal is somewhere between MCOL and MHCOL....there are more expensive areas for sure (Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto, maybe Halifax) but so many areas that are still so much cheaper.
We are Toronto suburbs and our two bedroom condo sold last year at 278/sq (an increase of $59/sq from less than 4 years previous) and our current place is at $345/sq...I wish we could have bought in an area like my dad's (he's in Pointe Claire) at his prices...we could have gotten so much more for our $.

lol where is your dad? We are in pointe-Claire south. We bought 5 years ago, the prices are crazy now, I don't think we could afford this neighborhood anymore.

North of the 20...do you know where Lakeshore Hospital is? Across the street...he is a paediatrician there, only works deliveries.

Possible...he hasn't lived there that long...maybe 4 years? I grew up in Montreal (Westmount and Beaconsfield) but we lived overseas a lot...and my family lived in Nova Scotia bit.

Probably not then. They just seem to know everyone in Pointe-Claire, especially people their age
yep, that sounds about standard for the west island! How do you like it there (are you originally from the area - for some reason I feel like you are a US transplant but I could totally be wrong).

I really like it here. I am actually from Trois-Rivieres. I have been in Montreal for 12 years though, the last 5 being in the West Island. I wanted to buy in NDG, but DH convinced me to come here instead.

I'm in Calgary, and close to downtown in a decent neighborhood. $330/sqft is what we paid.
