I pay $58/month, but I'm a special snowflake because I am a "charter member" at my box. I'd pay $100/month normally for unlimited classes. We live in a low cost of living area. It is $$$ because it's essentially group personal training. Most of my classes are less than ten people, with one or two coaches who know me and know my strengths, weaknesses, limitations and goals and cater to them.
I used to go 5 days a week, but now I do 3-4 because pregnancy is slowing me down. I don't do any other kind of exercise because CF is the most fun for me, but you can certainly incorporate other kinds of exercise. One day a week, IMO, isn't really enough to see much growth or benefit--I'd say try to do 2-3 days if you can. Plus, most people I know wind up getting addicted after the first class, so 1 day/week wouldn't be enough!
Most boxes do not offer once a week rates. I would try a minimum of twice a week if that's all you can fit in.
Hmm, I thought the rates I was seeing were monthly, one was $185 and another was $150. Both unlimited.
And then one of them had a package of 10 classes for $150, so I figured if I went once a week that would spread it longer.
I run 3-4 times a week and I'm just not sure if I have it in me to add something else more than once a week!
I also don't think I have all the lingo down (like what is a box?) so maybe I'm not interpreting the online rates correctly.
Thanks for the info though!
Box=gym.
Every box has different rates. My box only has unlimited rates, so you pay the same fee whether you go 1X/week or 5X/week.
Definitely go for a trial. We have a lot of runners at our box, and they have pretty much all found that cutting out a running day and adding Crossfit there doesn't hurt their times or training (and, in fact, can help it).

I totally agree that running and crossfit can go hand in hand. When I'm training for a race I use the FIRST program. Then I run 3 times a week and like to make it to CF 4 times. I dropped 9 minutes off my HM time in 12 weeks after starting CF.
As for rates, each box has it's own rate structure. The ones in my area don't seem to have packages of a set number of classes. It's either 2, 3, 4 or unlimited times per week.
1. We just got in with the opening of a new crossfit and they were doing tiered membership rates for early members. It was $80/person and $150 for family of up to 4 people for unlimited classes per month. Normal membership is $120/person
2. We just started last Friday but are going to try to go 4-6 days a week depending on how we are feeling. I am going to continue running 2 days a week and we also bike 1-2 days a week, and walk 2-3 nights. We are just starting so I can't say for sure how this will workout long term but I think I will be able to keep it up for a while.
3. Not sure, i guess it depends on how much $100+ means to you. I love this kind of intensity and don't think I would want to limit it to just one day. Whether you will see benefits? I don't know.
1. $150/mo for unlimited. The other box in my area charges $195 for unlimited, but the box I go to is much smaller. My box only offers that unlimited package, but they do have 2x/week and 3x/week packages at their other location. The other box offers 2x/week or unlimited.
2. I go 3-4x/week and run 2-3x/week.
I, personally, would not find 1x/week enough, but that is just me. Because of the way the WODs (workouts of the day) are set up, to feel like I got a really thorough and complete workout in that covers multiple components of fitness, I need to be there at least 3x, preferably 4x a week. Some days focus more on endurance, others on strength, etc. A good box will organize their WODs so that you are hitting different fitness components throughout the week.
I would definitely recommend checking out the CF boxes near you if you are interested. You'll know pretty quickly if it is something you want to do or not!
If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them. - Bruce Lee

1. How much do you pay for membership? The few places I've seen seem $$$, but I guess it's because it's small-ish classes and sort of one-on-one training? $155/month for DH and I. That's for 3x/week each and they have a free class every other Saturday. We live in a LCOL area.
2. How many days a week do you go? What other workouts do you do besides crossfit? Would it make it not worth it if I only go once a week? 3-4x/week and I try to run 1-2x/week.
