I got up at 345am this morning b/c the baby lost her paci. I had to go downstairs to get another b/c I couldn't find the other one. Getting back in bed, I took my temp and was surprised to see it was 97.3--this is what I would expect immediately upon waking and temping. I went back to sleep at when my alarm went off at 5am, I temped again and it was 97.7.
I am thinking the 97.3 was the accurate temp for today and it just took my body longer than I thought it would to react to the movement of going up and down the stairs. I was only asleep for one more hour. I have used the lower temp in FF. Do you agree this was the way to go?
I would go with the lower temp. But that could be wrong.
I temp the first time I wake up, (I toss and turn a lot) and I'm not sure how accurate that is for me either.
Sorry you were up so early. I woke up at 230 temped and have yet to fall asleep. My alarm will go off in 15 mins so I can get ready for a course I have today. Today is going to be a long one.
Interesting. I did something similar - I woke at 4am, 97.5. Then I slept another 3 hours and temped at my normal time 97.7. I was going to use the higher one b/c that's my normal time. It's not a big deal for me b/c they're close and I'm on CD 4.
I am not really sure which would make more sense. I am CD 12 today with predicted ovulation on CD 20, but this is only my second month of temping. Maybe it will make more sense when I see tomorrow's temp? Although I take weekend's later b/c I sleep in an hour so later than during the week. Frustrating!
Since this is only your second month temping I would make a note somewhere about the two temps and see how the next few days go. Also, becuase you don't know how your body is with temping exactly I would try to temp at the same time every day (even weekends), until you are sure that an hour here or there doesn't make a difference. My temps are highly influenced by time, so I set my alarm for o-dark thirty even on the weekends, take my temp, and then reset the alarm. Annoying but necessary!
In situations like that, I just average the two and make a note in my chart. There's no prize for scientific accuracy you're just looking for a pattern, and if the average doesn't screw up the pattern, try putting it down.
