I would like to be able to somewhat look out of them but no so much so as folks walking past our house can look right in and see my living room and dining room. Not 100% crazy about curtains, and the window film sold in HD/Lowes is not tickling my fancy. This is a picture of the door when it was installed last year.
I did find on pinterest a lady who used contact paper cut outs, which may work for me. I was wondering if you gals had another idea I am over looking.
This would be pricey, but blocky' stained glass would look good with your craftsman style door & porch. You could probably get someone to make a piece that's mounted inside your existing glass. Peel & stick stained glass would be the cheaper alternative.
I had this issue as well. I ended up buying some lovely fabric from Smith and Noble and sewing my own drapery panels, which I secured with tiny cafe rods at the top and bottom of the sidelight.
The only options I found in stores were the shirred, gauzy or lacy fabric, which I found looked dated.
I chose not to use contact paper for two reasons: I did want to be able to peek out if need be, and I just could not be okay with putting sticky paper up in my entryway. I used it in my garage, where I have a lot of windows, but my entryway is the first impression...so, no.
I get a lot of compliments on my little panels! I lined them with simple unbleached muslin, and they work great.
