If you're placing it more like a doormat (like you have it in the last photo above), then I think it's fine for the space. If you want it to be more of an actual rug, then yes, you should go bigger.
You could always have both- a smaller doormat, and then a larger, area type rug. They wouldn't have to match, just coordinate. I like the rug you bought, fwiw!
I would definitely go with a 4x6 or 5x8 there. I love the look of a nice, big entry rug. It makes the space look so finished and cozy IMO. I love your floors, wall color, etc. Your house looks really cute!

Thanks all! The width of my entry way is 6 1/2 feet. My little table is exactly 1 foot deep. So I think I'm going to go on the hunt for a 5x8 rug. But knowing me, I'll buy lots of different options and try them all out. I really think this will make a huge difference!! Any other suggestions to jazz up my entry way?

I think a 4-6' round rug would look awesome there and give the entry a modern feel. I do really like the rug design you have but I feel like it looks too small. I am dealing with the same issue in my house and looking for a new entry way rug (am definitely doing round myself). I love the look of your house/decor.
Yes bigger - I'd go something square that actually treats the entry like it's a room - 4x6 or something similar. Also "more modern" doesn't equal floral/leaf patterns to me.
I actually really like the first rug better. It doesn't look too big to me. And holy cow, I just put 2 and 2 together... I didn't know you were posting here! E is SO big!! That is crazy! But I guess I shouldn't be surprised since her and Cameron are the same age. What a cutie- she looks just like you, for sure!

I'm not here often, but like to pop in when I can. Thanks for your thoughts!! I hate making decorating decisions. I checked your blog the other day- your kids are dolls and y'all seem to be doing just great! Nice to "see" you around!
It looks much better with a bigger rug, but I think I'd like to see it with the rug the other way, even if it tucks under the front of the little side table. Maybe a 4x6 turned horizontal?

So a 4x6 rug is much harder to find than I thought it would be. BB&B had none. (I had store credit & coupon so bummer) and HomeGoods had 1. I was shocked... unless I was really looking in the wrong place (they were not very helpful when I asked.)
So I came home with a 4x6 sisal rug for $70. I figured I might as well bring it home and check the size... and I think it's perfect.
However, I know nothing about sisal. Will this make an ok entry way rug. It rarely rains here but I do have a large dog and two young girls (fwiw.)
wdyt? I could either keep the sisal or start browsing online now that I know 4x6 is a good size.
The sisal rug isn't terrible, but I think you could do better -- it doesn't really go with the feel of the space IMO. Of the three you've posted the Costco one was my favorite.

This. The Costco rug makes a statement and imo is more inviting. The sisal rug is okay, but not anything that I would notice.

I really like the bold pattern of the Costco rug, but it doesn't really seem modern to me.
I definitely think 4x6 is the way to go! I love the Crate and Barrel rug that pp showed. Otherwise what do you think about stripes? Something like this might be pretty....
I feel like the rug needs to go the other way - horizontally. I don't feel that the first rug was very modern - the second two seemed more modern to me.
As I'm looking at the space more, I think you need a square or a round rug. The rectangle just doesn't seem to work with the proportions of that floor area.
