Does sunlight cause discoloration on a fiberglass tub?
We have a 5x5 window perfectly centered with the master tub. It's a privacy window which we paid extra to get. H wants to put a shade/blinds on the window because he's concerned with sunlight causing any discoloration.
I don't want anything on the window. I love how bright the master bath is and I would feel we just wasted $$$ to get a privacy window if we're going to be using a shade/blinds.
Oh and the tub is not that expensive. We're not tub people so I chose something decent that I can use once in a while (once every 5 yrs? lol). So I'd rather replace it in the future and enjoy a very bright master bath.
In our last house we had discoloration issues, not with the tub itself but with the plastic parts around the jets. The window was directly over the tub and the jets turned yellowish on the side that the light hit. I had a cellular shade on the window but I kept it open halfway to let in more light.

We have the same issue with our current tub. The plastic parts turned yellow although the blinds are always closed. The tub itself looks fine, so I'm thinking my H's concern is not valid.
