I'm pretty sure you could find it closer than San Fran, but sure We'll be eating in about 20 mins.
I love Indian food too. DH gets so tired of it (he thinks if you eat something twice in one year, it's boring). I could eat the thali at the local vegetarian place every single night. Luckily that is generally healthier than paneer tikka masala (well, except I eat sooooo much of it and get samosas to start).
Ha, of course they have it in Austin. I've never been to TX, but Austin sounds like my kind of place. Moving to CA opened up a whole new world of food for me. I'd never had Indian food, having grown up in the rural south. I'm only just starting to learn to cook it (well sort of cook it, I usually buy the sauces and breads pre-made and reheat). Do you have any Trader Joe's around? They have some good frozen Indian food. They used to have a tomato chutney that they stopped carrying. I'd do criminal things to convince them to carry it again.
Yeah the closest Indian food ( or Korean *sigh*) is easily 45 minutes from here. And I don't know where a trader joes or whole foods is. I'd never had Thai, Vietnamese, or Moroccan before I started this job.
Drool. So good. Panera butter masala is one of my favorites. I am forbidden from eating it or anything with lots of delicious fat until after a minor surgery... its really killing me. So delicious.

I'm sorry I'm not sure I could take that. Butter is a food group for me.
Did you ever eat at Udupi on University when you were in Berkeley? OMG. I don't think it has masala, I've never checked, but the food is so darn good.

Yeah, it's been a true hardship LOL! Actually, it was a delicious dish of paneer (and tomatoes - so, really it was totally healthy) that sent me writhing in pain to the hospital and convinced me to get this stinking gallbladder taken care of. I never went to Udupi, but we used to go to Vik's a lot. We liked it because it has a chaat bar that was cheap and still makes you weak in the knees, plus a grocery store attached. We could stock up on Indian goodies to make at home too. We had to go to that neighborhood this weekend to give the final stamp of approval on our coffee table and it was hard not stopping at Viks. Udupi looks amazing though (based on the website). I'm going to put that on my list for sure!
