I'm training for a half on June 23rd. This past weekend I was supposed to do 11 miles, but we were out of town for my nephew's high school graduation and I couldn't fit it in (did 6).
This weekend the training plan calls for running a 15k race. My cousin is going to be in town and asked me to join her on a 12k so I was considering doing that and making up the 11 miles today. (although I'm REALLY on the fence about the 12k race this weekend. It's an hour drive from here and we have a busy weekend).
Yesterday morning I woke up and my ankle hurt. Not sure what I did to it but I tweaked it somehow. It doesn't hurt too bad when I walk, but it does if I point my toes. I did a kickboxing class last night and it didn't seem to hurt too much, but I definitely favored it some. So would you...
1) Run 11 today (in the pouring rain too). If it's fine when walking it should be fine when running.
2) Run an easy run today, do 11 on Saturday and skip the 12k race (which I'm really unsure about anyway).
3) Rest until the ankle no longer hurts - don't risk injury this close to the half. Try for 11 on Saturday.
I should add I've done numerous half marathons so I'm not too concerned about not getting all the mileage in.
do you have any other time to do the 11 miles this week? or is it today or saturday, and that's it?
id probably rest today, see how your ankle feels tomorrow and attempt a short run. if you feel fine, do 11 miles thursday - if youre schedule allows. if it doesnt, id do 11 miles this weekend. or do the 12k + a warm up to equal 11 miles.
if you dont have a goal, and just want to finish, id just rest a few days, see how you feel, and then decide to either race or do a long run this weekend (11 or 15k, which ever you feel like).

I would rest and run the 12k or 11 on Saturday, since your not to worried about mileage. I tend to be causious when my HM are close and my ankles, knees, etc are hurting, which is why I would rest.

This isn't my peak run. I'm doing a 12 mile run the following weekend (the weekend before the race). I could definitely fit the 11 miles in tomorrow, and maybe on Thursday or Friday. I could also probably do it Sunday morning and still do the 12k on Saturday.
