Now I need to be off work so I can measure Baby W's dresser for new casters. The plastic ones depress me, he needs wood like the original dresser casters!
I found this website that sells reproduction period tiles. Because my life is in a bit of upheaval at the moment, I'm finding enormous joy in the possibility that I might seriously buy a house that was built in 1925, renovated in 1970something (and not for the better). The entryway needs me to retile it with one of these patterns.
Was it one of the houses you posted pics of yesterday on PCE? Because those were gorgeous
Our house (built in 1918) has an entryway with tile like this. It was one of the things that initially sold us on it, enough so that we're now going through the renovation nightmare. Sigh. Why can't new home builders include features like this?
asdfjkl you're probably right that most people don't care enough. Most of friends with decent $$ to spend on a house seem to go for size over everything else but if you could find it, I'd choose a "smaller" house (2500-3000 sq. ft.) with the arts and craft features of houses built in the 20s-40s.
I guess that's essentially what we've done with our house except that we have to renovate first which is not a fun process to go through with little kids running around!
But I have to come to grips with the fact that the timeline probably doesn't line up real well on that house. We're probably moving in July and I have to think it will be gone by then. But if it isn't... MEMINE (as my son would say).
These aren't the same as the fantastic Tudor Revival you posted on CEP (or any of the houses posted by others), and I'm not sure of your budget/wants/etc...BUT I'm throwing these out there.
There are two houses down the street and around the corner from me in Washington Twp that will probably still be on the market when you're looking. I know location probably isn't a huge deal to you since you'll probably go private for schools, but, as you know, Washington sells. They've both been on and off for a while. The prices are also very different from one another.

Awesome site! I'm not sure where you're at but we have a similar company that makes replica tile here in WI. I found them from the DIY Network/HGTV show Rehab Addict when she needed a few matching tiles made for an existing shower. I've later found some posters on the GardenWeb who have rave reviews for this place.
