I don't think we had any BFPs lately, have we? Awick, I know you've struggled with the QOTW, so I just went broad.
1. Where are you on your TTC journey?
2. Any TTC randoms/stories to tell?
3. Desert island: You can bring 1 book, 1 tv series, 1 movie, 1 personal item, and 1 endless supply of food to the island. Feel free to explain and defend your choices
4. Bonus TTC-type question - we recently had a thread about names. Are you considering family names? Why/why not? Do you have any cool or weird family names?

1. cycle 4, CD 10 (I usually O between now and CD13).
2. I'm feeling really moody & hormonal right now - more so than any previous time before O. I'm also feeling discouraged.
3. The thing about this question is, you have to repeatedly read/watch/eat/use these things..... Movie: When Harry Met Sally TV show: The Simpsons (volume helps, Arrested Development is a close second). Food: Ice cream, esp mint choc chip Personal item: ipod? Book: I'm not much of a reader but I did enjoy reading Twilight
4. We'd like to use some family names but we've got some unique ones that are a nonstarter: Alberto, Frances, Anastasia, Bertha, Libby, etc.

1. Where are you on your TTC journey? Cycle 5, taking a break till May. H is waiting for SA results. I'm temping and don't think I O'd. I guess the only good thing is no AF this month but I'll be doing provera next month.
2. Any TTC randoms/stories to tell? I've been super bitter lately. I always get down when I hear baby stuff but now I seem to be turning into a snatch about it.
We are doing family names for middle names. My girl middle name is Mae after my grandma. Boy will be either H's first or middle name.

1. Cycle 10, CD 19, looks like 1 DPO
2. DH had blood drawn today, and has a follow-up with the uro next week. I'm debating whether I'm going to wait until it's time for my annual in June to go to an OB/Gyn, or start trying to navigate the insurance issues. On one hand, any treatment for DH's problems will take about three months before we see results anyways so I don't feel in too much of a hurry to investigate my side of things further, but on the other hand, my period seems to be getting longer (10 days this cycle!) and I'm a little concerned.
3. Book: The Oxford Annotated Bible (cliche, I know, but I'm reading it start-to-finish right now and I'm thinking I could be at it for a long time, especially if I really studied all of the footnotes). TV Series: Arrested Development Movie: Mermaids (the 1990 Cher movie (hot)) Personal item: Hmm...I don't know Food: Honey Nut Cheerios...I could eat that (even without milk) for a long time while I figured out food sources on the island
4. Yes, our top name choices are family names (Anna for a girl, James for a boy).
Trying for #3; FET 8/18 -- BFN. Leaving things up to chance for now... After three years, three IVFs, and two FETs, we finally have our miracle babIES!
1. Cycle 3, CD 25. Possibly 1 DPO, but I really can't tell b/c I've been sick with temps all over the place. 2. DH said he feels like he's been lied to. For years, you are taught how NOT to get pregnant so you assume it must be really easy to casually get knocked up. Nobody tells you that you will probably have to work at it! 3. Without putting much thought into it, my choice are book: Pride and Prejudice, TV show: ER, movie: The Proposal, personal item: hair dryer...I'm assuming I have electricity if I'm watching TV and movies!; food: pizza. 4. We are not using family names; it is not really a "thing" for either of our families.

1. Where are you on your TTC journey? Cycle 5 CD13, hoping I O soon or can figure it out.
2. Any TTC randoms/stories to tell? I had a post about it yesterday. This is my first month using a fertility monitor that I am borrowing from a friend. I am on CD 13 and it still tells me low fertility, I am hoping I get a high soon.
3. Desert island: You can bring 1 book, 1 tv series, 1 movie, 1 personal item, and 1 endless supply of food to the island. Feel free to explain and defend your choices I would bring Nip Tuck for the tv series, book and movie not sure. I would bring my ipad and chips.
4. Bonus TTC-type question - we recently had a thread about names. Are you considering family names? Why/why not? Do you have any cool or weird family names? We will most likely use a family name for a middle name.

1. Cycle 11, CD2
2. Decided to take a month off from temping and opk's, and try for sex EOD over the time that I usually ovulate. I need a break from charting. My cysts from December are gone but I have a new one, so I have to have it checked again in June, and then I have an appointment with the doctor to discuss TTC if I'm not pregnant yet, since it will be a year.
3. Book: The Fountainhead, by Ayn Rand TV: Survivor - there have been ~25 seasons, so it should keep me busy. Movie: Gladiator Personal item: my cats Food: pizza
4. Yes, I'd like to use my grandparents names for middle names, if H is on board.

I thought the MM thread was super depressing.
If my B-complex doesn't lengthen my LP this month, I think I'm going to stop temping and just aim for EOD around typical ovulation, too. My ovulation is consistent and it isn't giving me any useful information at this point (aside from satisfying my need to feel like I'm doing something).
I agree with you on the MM thread. There's also a "things to do before TTC" thread on MMMoms that is bumming me out. I try to remind myself that plenty of non-GBCNers TTC without this checklist that seems to be standard around here, but it's hard to not second-guess our TTC timing (we haven't traveled the world, we don't own a house yet, etc.) even though DH and I really feel the time is right for us. Also, you can only look on the bright side of sleeping in and drinking instead of having a baby for so long...

Yeah, that MM thread bummed me out too. The earlier pages especially. I fully expected to feel better after seeing ladies post that it took a while to get KU. It really does seem to be a right-away or long-wait type situation.
Post by annabear07 on Mar 13, 2013 12:45:39 GMT -5
1. Cycle 5 CD 25 5 DPO
2. The up side of having a shortish leutal phase is my 2ww is a 10 day wait and since I can't confirm an O until 2-3 dpo, it's a one week wait! Not that it makes it easy!
3. Book: Chronicles of Narnia, I find new stuff in that book everytime I read it. TV Show: Gilmore Girls lots of dialogue and several seasons to digest Movie: Princess Bride, the only movie I never get tired of watching Personal Item: Running shoes, I would get pretty darn buff Food: Cheese, I love, love my cheese and with all that running I wouldn't get fat eating it!
4. We are considering family names for middle names. We have some pretty interesting names such as Meryl and Iryn Byron no thank you!
ETA: That MM thread is totally bumming me out too! I'm happy for those who get ku on the first try and I knwo they aren't gloating, but man does it feel like they are.
1. Where are you on your TTC journey? Cycle 4, CD3 but we have been tta the last 2 months.
2. Any TTC randoms/stories to tell? I have appts with my endo and obgyn next week to check my thyroid levels and to talk about ttc again. I hope we can start asap. I just had a normal cycle with definite O so I am feeling hopeful.
3. Desert island: You can bring 1 book, 1 tv series, 1 movie, 1 personal item, and 1 endless supply of food to the island. book-?, tv series-Law and Order-SVU-that would last me a while..lol, movie-The Sound of Music, personal item-ipad, food-ramen noodles..lol
4. Bonus TTC-type question - we recently had a thread about names. Are you considering family names? Why/why not? No. We want to give our kids English names, like we have.
Post by picksthemusic on Mar 13, 2013 13:45:32 GMT -5
1. TTA cycle 4 (?), one more cycle until official TTC! Currently 11DPO, but I'm fairly certain I'm not pg due to the fact that when we DTD around O date, I was suspicious of an early O and we used a condom. I'm just waiting for AF to show her ugly face since I'm craving fried food (McDonald's fries sound SO GOOD right now - ugh).
2. Nothing new here.
3. 1 Book: Can I bring the entire Harry Potter series? Please? 1 TV Series: Bones. 1 movie: Can I bring the entire Harry Potter movie series? That counts as one, right? 1 personal item: my bed. 1 endless supply of food to the island: Eggs Benedict with hash browns. Om nom nom.
4. J wants our son's middle name to be Tiberius if we have a boy next. I'm not even kidding a little bit. I want something to honor my grandfather, but we'll see how it goes. Girl names are way easy (we have similar taste), so that's not a problem. I do want something to honor either his grandmother or mine, so that'll be in the mix this time if it's a girl.

Was today 'post baby pictures and announce pregnancies' on Facebook day? I never go on FB but now I'm crying. This sucks. I'm not the jealous type but my third baby shower invite in 6 weeks and all these pictures makes me want to hide under my covers.

sorry simpsongal. It freaking sucks. I usually find solace in a glass of wine or a margarita. If we are not pg yet, might as well enjoy ourselves. The time will come.
2. Told my bff we were ttc and how long we'd been trying and her response was "just relax and it will happen" - I just said "yeah, not how it works" and moved on. It was still nice to tell someone IRL what's going on.
3. Book - Good in Bed by Jennifer Weiner, TV Series - Veronica Mars (obviously), Movie - Silver Linings Playbook, Personal Item - iPhone, Food - Pizza
4. Yes, if it's a girl we will name her Violet after DH's grandma. We may make her middle name Jessica after our friend who died in a car crash last year. Gabriel for a boy - DH's confirmation name.

Thanks, missy. It just caught me off guard. I've been feeling really hormonal these past couple days (close to O), that's not helping.

1. Where are you on your TTC journey? Cycle 8, CD 8
2. Any TTC randoms/stories to tell? My heart is not in it this month because I'm so discouraged, so I'm not sure if I'm going to temp or anything this month. I haven't yet. I've been O-ing consistently around day 18 or 19 all this time, so I feel like I can still put the effort in without all the charting and stick-peeing.
3. Desert island: You can bring 1 book, 1 tv series, 1 movie, 1 personal item, and 1 endless supply of food to the island. Feel free to explain and defend your choices I love this question!
Book: Where the Heart Is (I can't stand the movie but I have such nostalgic fuzzy feelings about the book)
TV series: Dawson's Creek. I can't really defend it, I just never get tired of watching it
Movie: Almost Famous
Personal Item: My dog
Food: chicken chimichangas. Bring on the deep fryer, who cares if I get super fat if I'm alone on an island anyway?
4. Bonus TTC-type question - we recently had a thread about names. Are you considering family names? Why/why not? Do you have any cool or weird family names? If we ever get pregnant, we would use my dad's/grandpa's first name as a boy's middle name (Henry), and our girl middle name is the month that I associate with my mom's parents who died when I was 19 (May). Both of their birthdays and their anniversary were all in the same week in May, plus that's also the month we got married.
Post by thoseareradishes on Mar 14, 2013 15:47:15 GMT -5
coribelle26 - I'm feeling the same this month as far as being discouraged, so I decided to just plan on sex as much as we can over the days I usually ovulate. I think it is worth it to take a break here and there - FX that a break in routine is what we need!
1. Cycle 1 CD 43. About 12 DPO 2. I doubt I am pregnant on the first try especially since our timing wasn't great on this long cycle. That being said every time I go to the bathroom I am hoping that af doesn't show. 3. Book - nothing stands out. I love to read but usually forget the story a short time after I finish a book. TV series - Greys Anatomy. It has gotten crazy over the years but i still love it. Movie - The Blind Side. It is funny and a feel good movie. I just love it. Personal item - pillow. Food - definitely pizza. 4. No family names for us. I kind of wish we had a unique name or a tradition but we don't.

How come you haven't tested yet? If I ever make it to 12 DPO I am so testing no matter what lol.

I think i am nervous to test. If i dont see a bfn then i am still in the game. I know this is crazy! My chart from two cycles ago matches this one closely and i got af on day 45. I thought i would give it a couple more days.

belovedbride07,I tried to quote but it didn't work..you can tell I'm new to posting!
I just started lurking here and saw this and felt like an ass..I started that MMMoms post because my husband isn't ready to TTC yet and I have ridiculous baby fever..I wanted something to help me focus on until August. I definitely don't think everyone has to have a "list"; when the timing is right, it is right. Best of luck to you and everyone else TTC, I can't wait to join you in a few months!
1. Where are you on your TTC journey? Cycle 3 CD 16 DPO 7
2. Any TTC randoms/stories to tell? I don't think it's going to happen this month. My mom took a box of pregnacy tests falling down in front of us as I am, but I am not getting my hopes up. We were shopping yesterday and she wanted to look at pregnacy tests and a box fell as we were walking up to them, lol.

4. Bonus TTC-type question - we recently had a thread about names. Are you considering family names? Why/why not? Do you have any cool or weird family names? We really haven't discussed names. Knowing us we will write down our favorite names and put them in a hat and pick it that way. Bad I know but we both are horrible choosing anything. It takes days in advance it start discussing where to go to dinner on the weekend.

Oh no! Don't feel bad! I know this is my hang-up...you're not an ass. :-) That topic just seems to come up often, and it's frustrating for me on a personal level. To me, it's like the "everyone should max retirement" or "*I* would never be comfortable with only $xxxx leftover every month" posts...most posters don't mean their personal experiences to be cookie-cutter advice, but sometimes it's hard to not second-guess myself when one particular view of how things should be seems to be the widely accepted one.
Good luck on your baby fever! I've been pretty mellow the last few months, but we went to Ikea last night and mine is re-ignited. :-)
