I just saw this last night. It says you can back up your info but I haven't done it yet. Did you guys? I'm hoping another program will replace it. I LOVE Reader!!
Whoever Google's new CEO is who reignited the mommy wars with her ban on telecommuting has said she's eliminating lots of Google products. The plan is to do only a few things well and stop paying for a million different teams to manage a million different products. I just didn't think google reader would be one of them.

Tarheels - I get her point with eliminating a lot of google products. They have a bunch of stuff that is old and not supported, but google reader? Not a good choice, IMO. Maybe because they don't make any $ off of it? (They don't from me because I use its "next" button.)
I saw this last night too. It sucks. I read that they want to eliminate Google Reader (and all RSS feeds) so people use Google + instead but it is more of a social media program not a reader.

Dang, I didn't realize Yahoo's CEO and Google were both like this. I know the Yahoo CEO has been facing a ton of backlash.

And Google+ is pretty lame when no one is on it... I created an account and got bored with it very quickly.

I wouldn't use Google+ for personal social media, but our company uses it as an internal news board of sorts. We have a community, it is private, and we can post pictures, links to things that need to be checked, release notes, etc. Our email is Gmail based so it is nice to have the two integrated, we also use Google Drive for docs (not sensitive / critical).

Oh wait, did I mix them up? Sorry, my bad. You don't generally hear about so many web browser companies in one week! Lol

WTF?? This sucks big time. I wonder if this will affect blog traffic that people get on their blogs. I do not have the time to bloghop checking for new posts. If a good alternative doesn't show itself, I will get bored with blogs and move on. And I really love the blogs I have in my reader

I was going to switch over to NewsBlur because it sounded like the best alternative, but now I see that they only allow you to subscribe to 65 feeds before you have to pay. Hoping a good free alternative pops up in the next month or so.
