On Monday, I had a sore throat, horrific chills and a fever. The fever went away overnight but the sore throat remained, and sometimes it was so bad it felt like I was swallowing glass. I attributed it to post-nasal drip and went about my day. Now, the sore throat's getting better, but today I woke up to a rash that's spreading from my face to all over my upper body.
The nurseline said it sounds like strep, except for the fact that the symptoms are subsiding so quickly without having taken medicine. Obviously I'm not asking you to diagnose me (I have a call in to the doctor), but have you guys ever heard of anyone just recovering from strep without antibiotics?
Now I'm so scared one of the kids is going to get it, and the ILs are coming in tomorrow night.
Oh, I'll definitely be getting tested and getting medicine, I was just surprised the nurse thought it was strep. I have all the symptoms, except I always thought it was a lot worse and lasted longer. The nurse seemed kind of baffled that, other than the rash, the symptoms are subsiding already. I was just wondering what other people's experiences were.
I have an appointment to see the dr. in an hour. I just hope no one else in the family gets it.
So it's strep. And not only have I unknowingly exposed my family to it, but also people at church and my graduate advisor, who I met with yesterday. If I still had symptoms I never would have gone anywhere, but I honestly thought it was just a little fever and some postnasal drip.
And fyi: antibiotics can reduce the effectiveness of birth control, so if you're ever on antibiotics, take precaution to prevent an oops baby!
Nope, strep turns into scarlet fever and that attacks your kidneys....do not wait.
this! And your heart! This happens to my gma when she was in her early twenties. She had 2 heart attacks by the age of 25 and has been in a ton of meds ever since. Don't wait.
