I think I mentioned recently here that I was likely on the verge of moving up to a bigger office at work. It came through, and I moved in yesterday.
I brought all my stuff from my old office, but it was quite a bit smaller. So that means I have some decorating to do!
Things to note: - I occasionally, but infrequently, have clients in my office. (Usually I travel to my clients.) - I am generally decorating just for me. - I don't anticipate moving to another new office in the coming years. - People here do personalize their offices to reasonable extent. - I can't paint, but most other things are ok, as far as I know. - I already plan to get more potted plants for the window sill (it faces east).
I am not totally moved in yet, so please excuse the mess.

This picture is just leaning for now until I decide which wall I prefer it on; I'm kind of afraid it's too small for both:
^This is my primary view when sitting at my desk, which is... most of my life.
and this is my other big blank wall that I see, to slightly lesser extent (above my monitors) while working:
So. Halp?
1. Which wall would you put the watercolor on? (It is a clock tower from my undergrad alma mater.) 2. I'm thinking travel photos on the other of the two. What format would you do? Prints on canvas? Sizes? 3. At some point I think nicer guest chairs would really class things up. Yes? 4. Window treatments? 5. W-else-WYD?
Lots of dog pictures? That would make it a happier room.
Could you mat and frame the clocktower pic in something larger? It seems a little small for the wall the way it is but a larger mat and frame may help. Then put a couple pics on either side of it to make a larger display.
Other than that I don't really know. Something on top of the bookcase would look nice. A statue or small vase. Something to liven it up.
Can you move the low cabinet to the wall that the door is on? I feel that with a few nicer chairs and maybe a small table in between them it would be crowded feeling over there.
I think you need something on top of your bookcase but I'm not sure what.

Can I ask what you do?
It would physically fit, but it would block the bookcase in a way that might look funny. It also fits under the two windows behind the desk, which is where the last occupant of the office had it. I'd just have to nudge the desk forward a bit I think. Getting into it easily is important because that's my file storage.
I'd get an area rug of some sort, more plants etc.
I think the watercolor is too small, but I like the travel photo idea. I wouldn't do canvasses- too informal for your office. If you do tha, Id advocate for just a few in larger sizes to keep it from being too cluttered.
Four seasons in a great idea. I would also add a couple of colorful non linear items to the bookcase (leafy plant in a bright colored pot, curvy vase, small sculpture).

Congrats! That's fantastic! Can you move the book shelf under the window, and then get 2 chairs with a small table against the wall, and 2 chairs in frint of/ facing your desk, and then you could turn them do all four face and there's a small table in the middle for meeting? And then hang something on the wall and maybe get a floor lamp or something?
I don't think I'd ever use a 4-chair arrangement. Any time that many people are assembling we'd use one of the conference rooms instead of someone's office. Two is pretty much the most I've ever needed.
