Have you guys tested for radon in your home? We decided to get ours tested in our new house and got the results today. 2.3. Anything under 2 is good 2-4 they say to recheck and monitor and 4 or above you need to mitigate. It rained heavily during our test and that can cause elevation in levels, so I'm going to retest to be sure we are ok.

We just had ours tested and it was 5.7. DH wants to do another test before we mitigate. I say we should just get it installed. When we were building, we had a radon company install pipes for a mitigation system in the walls before the drywall went up. So now they'd just need to hook up the fan, which is about $500.
We bought a test through our county and it was $15. I tested a while back and our level was 10.7 (OMG). I am retesting and then, assuming it's still high we are going to get the mitigation system installed. When I called the county environmental health guy freaking out about our results he told me that they generally are cut in half for each level up in the house. So our unfinished basement (where we never hang out) is 10.7, our main living area would be about 5 and then our upstairs bedrooms would be about 2.5.

When mitigation systems started appearing in the houses around us, I had the same freak-out. When I found out that we'd have to spend half the day in the basement to be at risk, I calmed down, LOL.
We are doing a long-term test and if the levels are high, I suppose we will have to assess how we want to handle. Our basement is unfinished and we spend a minimal amount of time there.
