So, we're doing the whole unbirthday deal for Zoe's party. Well, I took Patsy to the dentist a few days ago and the office ladies gave us a plastic tea set. I was thinking about setting up a photoshoot with the stuff. What is the likelihood that I have any chance of getting any pictures of a one year old before she starts throwing the cups at me? Anyone have any tips for distracting her long enough to get pictures? I read online that you can give babies a piece of clear tape to distract them and I tried giving her a piece last night and she just violently shook her hand, so I'm unsure that will work, lol.

Get everything set up, have something really cool and attention getting like a bright pinwheel, flashy light thing, empty water bottle full of something, etc and hold it up (have someone hold it up) to distract her from the other toys to get a (hopefully) few seconds of non-destruction!

For setup shots like that, I just have someone (in our case, H) jump around and distract the baby behind me while I take pictures. M is really mobile and it works well. I've never had them hold something fragile though.

Tell me about the unbirthday - what is that about?
The tea party in Alice in Wonderland is a celebration of their Unbirthday, which is any day that isn't your birthday. Since Zoe's party is taking place a week after her birthday, we're running with the "Unbirthday", but really it's just a tea party and if Zoe's walking in time, she'll be wearing a blue Alice dress.

Ha. Shows how long it's been since I've read it How cute
Well, speaking of tape, I might try taping the teaset to the table. It probably won't be strong enough to survive a direct assault, but might keep the pieces in place through indirect bumps and swipes. Maybe it will give you enough time to take the perfect shot!
