How do you pronounce Willamette? As in the Willamette Valley? Because a wine guy just told us it's one way that is much different from how I've been saying it. monkeybabe
true story: My H and I have been together for 8 years, and his father STILL says Will-a-met. This would be NBD (because really, how often should that come up in conversation?), except every time we're in Boston and he introduces me to someone, he says "this is my DIL and she's from the Will-a-met Valley, where they have the great wine". Eight years of incorrect pronounciation :-)
DH is from Oregon (Medford/Ashland area) and it driven him crazy when people pronounce the state like it rhymes with octagon. "It's a state, not a shape!"
In WI we pronounce Oregon like or-gone. And probably everywhere else in the US pronounces it right way....... or-gen. It took me years to finally pronounce it the correct way.

I say it like Ore-a-gone. I think that's probably wrong. Or maybe Ore-a-gin.

Well than yes, I gather you pronounce it wrong, just like I did. monkeybabe is right, most pronounce the way she states. People poked fun at me forever, but it just goes with the territory of where your from.
