Sometimes Zoe won't calm at night unless I sing to her. Usually I sing a song my mom started singing when Zoe was a newb. She sang it to my oldest sister, Emily, with her name in the song and then changed it to "Zoe" for Zoe, but often times I find myself singing a song that my dad used to sing to us kids at night. It's a Christian song and I'm an Atheist, so it seems a little weird, but it's often the first thing that pops in my head.
What do you sing to your baby at sleepy time, if you do? Is it something from your childhood?

I'm pretty boring. I just hum brahms lullaby every time I'm nursing her to sleep. Be it bedtime or just nap time. I mix it up a bit and add my own twist though.
I sing Twinkle Twinkle over and over and over...she loves it and just stares at me, closes her eyes. I started when she was really little when I noticed how much she liked listening to music.
I sing the Skye Boat Song -- I learned it through highland dance growing up. It's a traditional Scottish lullaby...sometimes I also sing Brahms Lullaby. I sing a lot of other songs during the day, but those are my go to ones at sleep time.
I don't sing at night bc he just goes to bed but during the day, especially in the car, we will sing the wheels on the bus and old macdonald. We sang these to him when he was in the womb (only nursery rhyme songs we could think of at the time) and he instantly quiets down and get calm.

Return to Pooh Corner, Jesus Loves Me (usually changed to Jesus loves you), Stay Awake, Baby now that I found you (Allison Krauss) and Count on Me. I like to mix it up.
I love "As the Deer." It never occurred to me to use it as a lullabye. I'll have to try it.
I sing "Jesus Loves me" and "Jesus loves the little children," although I change the words to that because I think the whole "red and yellow, black and white" thing is racist.
When Abby was little I took the tune for "Goodnight ladies" from Music Man and changed the words so now I sing "Goodnight Abby" and "Goodnight Caleb."
"You are my sunshine" is one of my favorites, I've sang it to them since they were in my belly. I think they recognize it from then.
"John-Jacob-JingleHeimersmidt" (sp??), The "We are Siamese" song from Lady in the Tramp are some that I sing sometimes... I used to have these Wee-Sing tapes as a kid and some of the ones that I remember are from there.

You Are My Sunshine, Twinkle Twinkle, Baby Mine, Sleep Baby Sleep, Blackbird by the Beatles, The Wind and Rain by Gillian Welch, basically anything that pops into my head. I love to sing so I have a wide variety, haha.
At bedtime/naptime, I switch between Baby Mine (Dumbo), Rainbow Connection, Part of Your World (The Little Mermaid). All of these songs were on an instrumental CD that DS got as a baby and I've just taken to singing them for sleepy time.
