Does anyone do races when they are on vacations? My DH and I are going to Martha's Vineyard for the week of July 4th this summer and there is a 5 mile race on July 4th I was thinking of signing up for. The course is along the water and should be beautiful. I am trying to build up to another half in the fall to so it could be a good training run.
I usually turn my races into vacations, not my vacations into races. lol It would depend on the vacation. As long as it wouldn't interfere with any vacation plans, I'd go for it. Sounds like fun!

Do it! I'd probably be running 5miles anyway, so why not have some fun and do the race? A 5mi race is short enough that it won't really cut into your other vacay activities.
this year, I am planning several "getaways" around races I want to do. I always check out active to see what is going on in my destination while I'm there, too!
Yes, do it!!! I just signed up for a 5k in Charleston, SC along the pier for May while we're there on vacation. I want to do this for every trip we go on.
My DH and I go to the Berkshire Hathaway shareholders meeting almost every year and I am seriously annoyed that I didn't realize there is a 5K as a part of the meeting this year. Uncle Warren will be making an appearance at the race and I figure DH would have a good chance of meeting him if we were to race. I am pretty sure the 50-55 age group is going to be the most competative one. Waahhhh.
