I hate doing these introduction threads, but decided to bite the bullet, so Hi . I'm hoping you all will let me hang around.
I know a few of you from the olden days on the other message board (I was active on Pets). A few months back, I decided that I was tired of feeking bad about myself because I had gained some weight, so I went back to WWers. After losing about 20 pounds, I started to plateau, so I decided I needed to add more exercise into the mix. While I absolutely despised it, I wanted to start running. Really I wanted to start running because runners are usually skinny with rocking legs. I graduated from C25K and recently ran a 4 mile race and a 5 mile race and I am totally hooked. Although I still feel like a total poser, I guess I can now say I am a runner. I am currently training for the Broad Street 10 Miler in Philly and then want to do a 1/2 marathon in the fall. Aside from running, I also do a crazy intense Zumba class a week (if I have time).
Welcome! Another Philly runner checking in! Congratulations on your weight loss and you new addiction to running Is this your first Broad Street? It is a great race and the perfect introduction to distance. Are you thinking RnR or the Philly half for fall?
Welcome! I started running a few years ago to lose weight and get in shape (having never previously run) and I also joined WW. I did well with WW at first (lost about 14 lbs) but then it crept back on. Recently started going back again and hope to lose 35 lbs. And I have stuck with the running more so than the WW--I am doing my third half marathon this weekend.
Congrats on your weight loss and welcome to the board!

Thank you everyone. I still need to lose a little more (6lbs) to hit lifetime again, but I am hopeful it will happen soon.
Gummybear- I am actually no longer in Philly, but we are originally from there. My husband was transferred up to Massachusetts for wok about a year and a half ago, so we are now in Central MA. But, we go home to Philly all of the time and all of our family is still there. This will be my first Broad Street. I am scared, but excited.

Don't be scared! It is a great race. I won't say it's "easy" but as far as 10 miles go, it is pretty smooth. The course is flat and straight, the scenery is awesome and there is tons of crowd support. You will have a blast, I promise
