Since we're taking everything apart for our new sink, faucet and counters does it make sense to spend $120 on a new garbage disposal? H complains about the one we have now not being strong enough but he's also cheap and doesn't think we need a new one. If we're already going to have everything broken down, why not just replace it?

Yes. Although I'd probably spring for a greater-than-$120-version and get the cadillac model. You don't want to replace it and then still have problems with it not being powerful enough. Get the 1HP version (and insert Tim Taylor grunting here.)

We have that exact one and installed it a couple months ago. There is no real advantage to doing in now vs later. (Okay, one install vs two, but no advantage to doing it while everything is "taken apart.") But if your current one works? I wouldn't bother. You should be putting as little down it as possible either way.

I have had two installed in recent months, oth where $100 in labor for a handyman, both were about 12 years old. The new ones I got were $99 at lowes, so slightly less expensive, but if yours is older, I would probably go for a new one.
