If you have acne prone skin what does your skin care regimen look like?
I'm admittedly lazy when it comes to skin care, but I'm sick of looking like I'm 13 again. A couple years ago I was using the Clarisonic with J&J Purpose and my skin looked amazing, but the lazy came back and I stopped using it for awhile and my skin went back to looking terrible. I got motivated again a few months ago and used the same combo and ended up with cystic acne. Not awesome and also sad since it had gone so well before.
I'm currently trying Glytone Acne Self-Foaming Cleanser and my skin is worse than when I wash it with Shampoo (I'm cringing just saying it).
Lately, everything seems to be making it worse instead of better and it's discouraging, so I need some recommendations. Also, don't let my lack of mentioning moisturizer fool you into thinking I don't need recommendations for it. I just don't have a moisturizer to mention.
I have acne-prone, oily skin, and when I'm not on hormonal bc, I get TERRIBLE cystic acne. I went back on hormonal BC after my derm recommended I do so to prevent permanent scarring.
In the past, I was using my Clarisonic twice daily with Ren's sensitive skin cleanser and saw good results.
Like you, I got lazy, though (sleeping in makeup is NOT good for my skin - EVER), and my skin freaked out. I'm currently in the process of trying to get it back in shape, which means using my Clarisonic with Origin's Never a Dull Moment twice a day (bonus, this stuff seems to be lightening my PIH marks), followed morning and night by Origins mushroom "toner" lotion, then with DDF SPF 45 oil-free lotion during the day, and Boscia oil-free nightime lotion at night. It's starting to help, but I can tell it's going to take another month or so to fix what happened when I was lazy.
It looks similar. I got my Clarisonic when they first came out so I don't know much about the other brands that came out later. I assume there has to be some difference because there's a pretty big price difference.

I discovered a long time ago that less is more, at least for my skin. I was layering on products for my acne and it just made my skin dry which made it break out more. I still get some pimples, mostly smaller ones, around the time of my period each month. I have redness still which is annoying but I just have to come to terms with never having smooth, flawless skin.
I use three products: 1. Ole Henriksen face wash: I loved the On the Go Cleanser. I am now using the African Red Tea foaming cleanser. It is ok. My face broke out the first week that I used it but has recovered.
2. A couple times a week I use the Ole Henriksen Walnut Scrub. It foams up nicely and does a good job exfoliating.
3. I use the Vitamin Plus moisturizer (also O.H.).
That is all. I don't really spot treat pimples. I just try to leave them alone and let them go away on their own.
I SWEAR by this moisturizer. It's the only one I've found in the last 15 years that worked well, didn't smell, isn't greasy and keeps my skin moisturized.

I use dove soap as a cleanser.... followed by mario badescu cucumber cleansing toner (they call it lotion).... then I either use MD skincare trifix clearing lotions on any spots I have, OR mario badescu drying lotion. Then I follow always with murad perfecting lotion. My skin has been decent. I think it's actually better after going off BCP.
I've started using the Clinique Acne System, and it has helped my skin a lot. I use the Clearing Moisturizer at night, and use the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel in the morning, and the cleanser and toner AM and PM.

It may not work for everyone, but Retin A has changed my life. I had mild adolescent acne, and it got progressively worse in my 20s. Once one pimple went away, another would pop up. I finally decided to see a dermatologist in January and I can't believe I waited so freaking long to do it!! I haven't had 1 pimple in 6 months.
I use Aveda all sensitive cleanser and moisturizer. I also use Alba sea algae enzyme scrub in the shower. When I have a bad breakout I use Aveda outer peace acne relief pads.
I have acne prone skin. My second pregnancy really cleared my skin up though. So weird. Anyway, the Neutrogena Microdermabrasion system is great for clearing up the break outs I have had.
Super lazy one here - oily, acne prone, sleep in makeup wayyy too often. Sometimes I'll use oil cleansing, sometimes regular exfoliating scrub, sometimes microderm scrub.
I would not necessarily recommend this, but what I have found to be best for my skin is nightly after I wash (when I remember to wash) I put on my custom anti-acne lotion - I mix about half a bottle of acne control lotion with a tube of "on the spot" acne treatment. This mix lasts a few months and is the best I have found for controlling my outbreaks.
I SWEAR by this moisturizer. It's the only one I've found in the last 15 years that worked well, didn't smell, isn't greasy and keeps my skin moisturized.
Love this moisturizer too! I have strayed and always go back. I use Neutrogena Foaming Fresh Cleanser and Makeup remover at night and the Brightening on in the morning both with my clairsonic.

I use all Mary Kay products (yes, I’m biased), but I don’t use the entire acne system. I use the TimeWise cleanser & moisturizer for combo/oily skin and the acne toner daily. An esthetician once told me that you use benzoyl peroxide for acne that forms white heads and salicylic acid for acne that does not. So I only use the acne treatment gel for the few pimples that turn into white heads. It’s drying, so you don’t’ want to put it all over your face like I used to. I use the MK vitamin C serum to get rid of the dark spots.
The other big thing is the way you apply. I use the Olay Pro-X for my cleanser and it works great. Just don’t push it hard on your face, you have to be gentle. The harder you scrub & the more you pick and poke at your face, the more you’re irritating it. I don’t think I’d use one of those machines if you have a lot of visible acne all over. I’d probably wait until it starts to settle down. I also use the MK microdermabrasion once a week and the MK oil control mask once a week (not on the same night, of course). It seems to keep the oil at bay, which keeps the acne down.
I have combination skin, but it's REALLY prone to oil in my t-zone, and I do break out regularly right before my period. It's gotten much better, though, with a good routine.
I regularly use Origins Checks and Balances in the morning. I follow with Origins United State toner. I usually use some kind of serum, honestly I'm working my way through Birchbox samples. I follow up with Josie Maran SPF40 moisturizer.
If I'm breaking out, I replace my cleanser with PanOxyl and my toner with prescription clindamycin. I can only use this once a day, and usually only a couple of days at a time before it's too irritating/drying for my skin.
At night, I just erase makeup with Neutrogena wipes, and then follow up with Clark's marine botanicals lotion. I don't really wash my face unless I've been sweating/working out after work.
Once a week I use Origins charcoal mask.
Oh, I also sleep with a fresh pillow case every 2-3 days, and flip it each night.
