My dr told me that i could still run (i dont think he thinks its a stress fracture). And it was ok....(the pain was never awful, it just hadnt been improving with rest). I ran 6 miles, which was the longest since it started a few weeks ago. The first few miles were uncomfortable, but then it got better and the last mile was basically pain free...so thats good. Im supposed to have a half marathon next week, he told me i could do it if im ok stopping if the pain gets worse (which i am), so im leaning towards doing it - yay! And since my run yesterday ive felt fine. So thats good.
Anyway, ive been using the stick a lot and icing, as per the doc. Theres definitely something in my calf muscle, i can feel it with the stick. I feel like a muscle injury isnt as scary, i dont know why. So hopefully ill be better soon, then i have to figure out how to get back into marathon training, if he says its ok, ive missed a 16 and 17 miler so far. Anyway, fingers crossed.
That's great! Glad you had a relatively pain free run. Bodies are weird aren't they?
Totally weird.
To be honest, the pain was never awful, im sure many many people would have run through it, im a wuss lol i considered goingfor a short run today, but its cold and windy out there. Brrrr. Sitting on the couch is better.
We didnt talk about that, im not even up to making that decision, im going to,wait to see what (if anything) the mri shows, and how longer runs go beforei ask him about that.
I'm glad to hear it's not a stress fracture. Have you tried a massage?
Well, i dont know for suremthat its not, but ill be surprised if it is.
You know, i got a massage right after this happened, which was unrelated (i go for a massage like once every five years lol) and i told her my calf was bothering me, so she spent some time on it, butit didnt seem to make a difference either way. The stick helps though, so its possible she just wasnt rough enough lol
