I saw some things that said I should start seedlings indoors right about now. I'm in New England and it seems really early (not to mention, I don't exactly have a lot of space for that sort of thing), BUT I want this year's garden to be a huge success. Last year was my first one and it was very anti-climactic. The things I want to plant early are spinach and green beans... I'm also planning on doing tomatoes, peppers, and maybe attempting a spaghetti squash plant.

I prefer planting seedlings, but I also have the space for it. I use smartgardener.com. It's free and will tell you when to plant everything for your area. A lot of things can either be started indoors or directly sowed and you can change your preference on there. Squash grows really easy and I start them in the ground. Peppers take a little while to grow and they don't do well with cold, so I always start them indoors. My green beans did really well last year and I planted the seeds directly in the ground. I start my seedlings in styrofoam egg cartons which fit well on window sills. I usually transfer them to the garden from the egg cartons instead of transferring them to larger containers.
