I would do it! I don't think a 5k will require that much recovery. I suppose the only risk would be an injury, but that's a risk every time you get out of bed in the morning.
I'm doing a half the week before a sprint in April. I can let you know how the week in between goes if you'd like?
That would be great! I'm also not planning on resting after the race - XT in an hour and the rest of my training schedule is as per usual. If I feel fine this week in training I should be fine after that race too.
