Tips/tricks or advice to make a white bathroom look good? I thought this would be a good idea for our master but I can't quite get it to a place where I love it. It looks just a bit unfinished/undone/not intentional for my taste. Love how sparkly and shiny it is when it's clean though! (Read: when I manage to clean it!).
I swapped out a white floral laser cut shower curtain I bought at Target awhile ago with a voile sheer fluffy one (think the Anthropologie knockoff everyone coveted awhile back). It did help a lot with texture and dimension. I never realized how much my other one looked like a dishtowel hanging.
So, words of wisdom HG? If this is something that only looks good in high end houses with high end bathrooms, not my Middle America, step above builder grade house, feel free to let me know that too.
I'd slap up a pic but H is already asleep. Maybe tomorrow.
I do think white bathrooms need interest to work, something not always available in real world baths. Do you have wall space? What's on it? Anything with great texture or fabulous color? How are the light fixtures? Could they (reasonably affordably) be more special?
Yeah that's what I am thinking too. My art is a decent sized picture of a couple kissing on a Paris street so lots of reds yellows grays greens. I love that. I'm thinking maybe some mirrored shower hooks and mirrored candle holders for some more interest. I think the problem is walls are white which I like but the floors are tan and white as is the counters. Its just not the right combo for what I want to do, but none of that will be changing soon.
It might be that this doesn't work in your bathroom. Could you skip the concept altogether and pull a color-color out of the art for the walls?
Yeah. This is where I'm headed. My towels are a lightish green color. It's fine but I think if I'd pull something like the bright yellow in the picture..I'd have better luck.
I'll play with it a bit.
I need to paint too. That'd help. I just don't have the ambish for that right now.
When I redid our tiny bath I followed Juno's white paint recommendation even though I cringed when she told me. It probably helps that we have a tiny bit of gray at the top of the wall and the a gray cabinet though.
