Hi. I know that I don't post much, but you all have been helpful in the past so I thought I would ask this question here. We recently moved into a new home with a garage and need a better storage option for our four bikes. We can lean two against the wall, but will need to put two on a rack or something of the sorts. Hanging from the ceiling is not an option (too high). I've seen some racks that lean against the wall that would probably work, but I am a bit skeptical. For those of you that have multiple bikes, how do you store them? Thanks.
Parked next to each other, supported by their kickstands. We don't have any extra wall space and like you, super high ceilings. I thought I had seen some ceiling bike racks that can go on high ceilings, but I felt like if they were that out of the way, we wouldn't use them as often. Plus we have a trailer that would have to stay down anyway.
We just use j-hooks and hang our vertically on the wall. We each get two hooks (tri bikes and road bikes) and we alternate hanging them with the bars to the ceiling and the bars facing the floor. We have a bunch of the same hooks in the basement for the whole collection of bikes (we have about eight bikes in total).
We store our bikes in the house but we have a nice stand that holds two, one on top and one on the bottom. It is a little pricey but it looks nice and is sturdy.
Thanks everyone. I'm glad to hear a lot of people use hooks and have had success (I envision bad things with that). I've seen mixed reviews on the Delta Michelangelo stand, but thanks for the link for the Triton system, Kat. We're going to be in this place long term so maybe that would be a better option.
I'm not sure what kind of bikes you have but if you run hydraulic disc brakes you might have some problems if you don't store them horizontally (i.e., if you hang vertically from a single hook).
We have something that looks like a chin-up bar. The bikes hang by their seats (like they would on a stand at a triathlon). I have no idea if that's what it's for, we used to hang laundry on it.
I take back what I said earlier....DH built us a custom bike storage solution out of wood. It screws into the wall, and bikes hang on hooks by their wheels. I used one of the gravity 2 bike holders for years, and they work really well.

We also sometimes hang bikes by the seats from our chin up bar (when DH isn't in an arm strength kick).
