Since its the 1st day of Spring its time to think about fresh fruit and veggies!
Is anyone a member of a CSA?
I did a bunch of research last night and am surprised at how many options I found! Now I'm trying to figure out what I really want and which option is best. I do enjoy farmers markets too but I think we'd do well with a CSA b/c we do like all kinds of veggies and if its here in the house we will certainly eat it!
I've wanted to do a CSA for awhile but with only two of us and my H being as picky as he is I'm afraid a lot will go to waste. For now, we stick with going to the farmer's market.

You can only focus on changing one thing at a time. Do you want to get him on an airplane or eating greens more?
Eating greens would be the more MM option but damnit! I want to travel!

This. But my local farmstand does a pseudo CSA. You buy a preloaded debit card at a slight discount and can use it to buy anything at the stand. I'm considering it this year

I'm worried I'd waste a lot of it. I tend to shop for the ingredients for a recipe than structure a recipe around what I have in the house. We have a farmers market from end of May to end of Nov that we got to. Due to our region there's not a ton of local stuff in the winter months. My friend that did a CSA ended up getting kale all winter. Or he'd get like 1 tomato and other stuff. He said it was hard to make meals from it due to the randomness of ingredients and quantities.

I feel the same way. I will eat anything but my H is picky and 2 kids under 4 don't consume a whole lot ::sigh::
I have been wanting to do a CSA for years but I can't justify it. It came out to like $30 a week and we don't spend half that on veggies now. I think we'd waste a lot too. I need to try to hit a farmers market more often. I liked the one in Waltham when we lived there. An food ones in the Burlington area?
I can do a CSA through work that I may try. It's by "the farm school" and it gets delivered to our main building to pick up on Mondays. But like a lot of you I am afraid I will waste a lot of it. But I also think it will force me to branch out and try new things.
