Huh. I have (and love) brass all over my house because my house is old, but I don't really feel her on the polished brass love and dislike of tarnished brass. It's pretty only with a patina IMO. The polished stuff looks so garish to me. I paid extra for brass hardware that was aged by hand so I didn't have to wait on unlacqured brass to wear right!
I like that she's willing to speak up and declare her love for something, knowing so many have a dislike (sometimes even a hatred) for it. I'm not a brass fan myself, but the brass and white chandelier's not so bad in my opinion.
As brass has been popping back up I've really been enjoying it and how much warmth it adds vs the usual nickel and chrome or even ORB. I like polished brass, but only if it's real, unlaquered brass. I like a slight patina. When I polish up the brass in our house I give it a light coat of car wax which keeps it from tarnishing for quite a while.

Or new house has brass in all the door knobs and door hinges. It isn't my favorite by a long shot, but I just don't care all that much. A decent chunk of the light fixtures are brass as well, and I imagine we will change some of those, but more for style reasons than just that they are brass.
I don't like brass, I wouldn't pick it myself, but I don't hate it. I do like the old natural looking brass, but have never seen it in the price point of homes we could afford.
I like brass too. It'd look cheap and tacky in my house but I always love the look in old farm houses even if it is new stuff from Menards. Idk its not something that's ever bothered me in the "OMG get rid of it NOW" sense. There's a lot of other things I'd want gone before brass.
My mom also has a similar chandelier. It can definitely be ugly but she has a quirky antiquey style that makes it work.
And yes in another 10 years girls will be on here b*tching about the previous owners love of builder grade nickel. I promise. :-) 8 years ago the board was full of orb posts an it has Ben ages since I've see one now.
I love brass. I've loved it for a while now, and I have a ton of brass candlesticks, figurines, other stuff. I'm looking for a vintage brass chandelier for our dining room as well.
For me, polished brass can be okay in some, but not many, cases. Like this bar cart is awesome.
The super super shiny stuff just looks cheap to me, though.
I make no apologies. I have a collection of random Baldwin brass candlesticks on my mantle. I also have Baldwin switchplate and outlet covers in my formal LR and DR.
