I'm mostly just curious, as I'm pretty sure that we won't be going down the paleo path for a while.
How is your kid's weight gain since starting paleo with them? Are they still on the same track as before, or has it shifted? IF (a big IF) we switched, I'm wondering what would happen with my DD's weight. She's currently well under the growth curve, at 19 lbs and 19 months old. We're supplementing what she eats with Carnation Instant Breakfast in her milk and adding butter or olive oil to everything possible, as well as giving her avocados and other high fat foods.
I'm really just wondering how things have played out with your kids, that's all.
My kids have always eaten paleo/primal, so I can't answer to how things might change. My kids have consistently been in the same percentile for height and weight, though at times higher in height after a growth spurt. They eat a ton though (my oldest probably eats more than me), and I in no way restrict their carbs.
Just from reading success stories and family oriented blogs like Everyday Paleo and Paleo Parents, it seems that overweight people slim down and underweight people gain.
My kids did a switch. Actually, there has been no change. Kids have an instinct to eat when they are hungry, weird huh? LOL But really, I have one DD that just turned 3 last weekend. She is super tall and on the lighter side of average. She was always little, then got a little chubs when I stopped BFing at 1 year and now she's averaged out. My second DD is 21m and is a little tall and fairly chunky. She was tiny and in the 5th percentile until a year when I stopped BFing. Then she chunked up a lot and now that she's more paleo, she is still sort of chubs but not as much as before. That girl can put down 4 scrambled eggs in one sitting and still be hungry though. I think overall, the ladies are just healthier. I can see it in their skin, their BMs, and most importantly as a SAHM, in their attitudes! LOL When they eat crap, they are cranky. Their skin gets blotchy. They don't sleep as well. But when they are paleo, they play hard, sleep hard, and are major goofballs. I know it sounds cheesy. But that's my honest observation of my ladies. GL! I hope you at least give it a shot for a few months. It's a fabulous lifestyle to raise your kids with.
PS My kids also do CF at home. Hahaha WODToys FTW.
