So, I'm in the process right now of easing in to a Paleo lifestyle (I went food shopping on Sunday and bought a bunch of non-Paleo stuff, so I'm finisihing that off before going full-on Paleo). Anyway, I just tracked my meals for yesterday and today and came in WAY low for calories. My meals seem good, lots of protein and veggies, but my snacks seem to be lacking and are just a piece of fruit or something. I know that I want to add some protein and fat to my snacks, which will also help to keep me fuller longer, but I'm having a hard time coming up with ideas. TIA!
Like you said, add a handful of nuts along with your fruit. Or a hard boiled egg. I eat at least 1 hardboiled egg a day if not more.
I also make my own "trail mix" with raw nuts and a few dried cherries and/or dried apricots. I usually bring sugar snap peas and raw carrots to work with me for snacks, too. I've made paleo granola, which is yummy and very filling. There are lots of recipes for that if you google.
For "quick grab" things, I love larabars. Just check the ingredients because some flavors have non-paleo ingredients. There are recipes to make your own online, too. I have never tried that, though .
If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them. - Bruce Lee
Here is the list I gave DD's preschool. Obviously geared toward kids, and some are higher in carbs than you would want if you are trying to lose weight. But I thought it could still be useful.
