I have been taking accounting courses off and on for 4 years; more so off. But I have followed this die hard "I want to be an accounting major!" crusade and then changed it to a Bachelors in Accounting and Finance Management late last year when I enrolled with my current school.
But the thing is, I am REALLY bad at accounting. Terrible. I suck. I finally had to come to terms with the fact that I blow and need to give it up. I am horrible with math to begin with and even though I would love to excel in accounting and finance, it just isn't a go.
After failing my accounting course and math course, I did a mini freak out and had to evaluate what I wanted to do.
Today I changed my degree major to a Bachelor of Science in Human Services with a concentration in child and family studies.
I could not be happier! As long as I pass my Spring courses, I will be set. I picked an introduction 6 week course in human services and then after that is done, I will do another 6 week course dealing with computers. I picked an easy course to ensure I pass it. But both fall within the Spring semester and with an upcoming wedding that I am in, it gives me the ability to focus on my school as well as her wedding/traveling without worrying about two courses at once.
I always felt like I had to chase a paycheck and "lots of money" with picking accounting and finance, but I feel a huge sigh of relief and like the pressure is off. I will be absolutely content in graduating with a human services degree and getting a job with either the court house or our county human services. It's more me and something I have an actual interest in.

Good for you! I just got accepted to start working on a BA in Psych and then I'm trying to figure out what I want my masters in - counseling, psych, etc. I *think* I'm going to try to become a LPC, but I may also be happy being a BSC at my current company. There are sooooooooooooooo many options in the mental health/human services field, but I love it. If you work for C&Y, even though we're not in the same county, I'll have to declare war on you, though.

I HATE THEM, THAT'S WHY. I don't hate them. I hate the system that makes them leave the kids in the home, and I take it out on them. My county's C&Y is notorious for being absolutely, gobsmackingly, useless.

That's sad. I'm not sure what my counties stance is. I want to be in a position that actually HELPS children and families, instead of just sweeping things under the rug and leaving children in unhealthy situations.
