so i went for my every-three-years exam of my lady bits a couple of weeks ago. no big deal. but then on tuesday i get a call from my doctor to tell me that my pap came back normal "and gorgeous" (she's so silly), but that there were some endometrial cells present that shouldn't have been. she didn't want me to worry, it happens all the time, blah blah blah but she wanted me to have an endometrial biopsy to just be sure that there aren't any cancer cells present.
i got through that call just fine before i burst into tears. you just never want to hear the "c" word while on the phone with your doctor, right? first thing i did was call the hub, who gave me hair pets over the phone and reassure me that all would be well. i was sitting in the target parking lot for my weekly shopping spree, and went in after i'd pulled myself together. at the checkout stand, i turned around after unloading the cart and the hub was standing there waiting to give me a big ol' hug. i'm kind of teary just remembering it.
the biopsy was this morning, and he cleared his schedule so he could come with me. thank god it was a painless procedure, and he and the doc chatted it up while it was going on to keep me distracted. i'll hear back from her by monday, and she said that in her 35 years of practice, she's never had anything but "normal" results from biopsies she's done.
i feel confident, but hey - any and all good thoughts and hair pets are very, very welcome.
((hugs)) I had cervical biopsies, is that the same? I had a colpolscopy following several abnormal paps. You are going to be just fine:) Your H is sweet.
i had that done after an abnormal pap about ten years ago. i remember it being really, really painful - did you have a similar experience? i think that's what made me so sketch about this one, but i'm grateful that it didn't feel much different from the pap procedure.
thanks, you guys. i just had to get it out, and this is the best place i could think of

Glad your h was there for you, and I hope everything is fine. ::hair pets::
Also, good for you for doing it, despite your fear and a not-so-pleasant past experience. A lot of people stick their heads in the sand and hope for the best - so go, you!
I actually screen paps for my job (cytotechnologist). We always have to call endometrial cells in a pap in any one over 40. Even if they are in cycle. We see them all the time in patients so if you were 39 and we saw them it wouldnt be mentioned. Im not sure why 40 is the magic nber. Thats why it is often not the best time to go when on your period. But yes it is most likely nothing. I dont have any experience with the biopsy process though.
