1. Siding guy was OVER an hour late. We had to call the main office to check and see where he was. When he arrived it was a simple, "Hey guys...so sorry I was late." Really?! Ok, so later we found out he had a flat tire. No phone call though?
2. Says we'll get the quote on Monday. Nothing on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. Today, get an email saying, "OH yeah, the satellite images we ordered came in and they got your neighbors house by mistake. Hadn't forgot about y'all! Here's some colors to look at." FO REALS?
Do they want our money?
I told my DH they must be so d@mn good in their work that they don't have to provide customer service on the front end.
I'm a bitch and I'd tell him that if being isn't on time isn't a priority you're going to find someone else who can get it done on time. No, it is not ok to be late without proper communication. I'd have let the guy have it as soon as he showed up late the first time. No shame.
I would get quotes from several more companies. The pricing for siding is all over the place. Play close attention to whether they are going to remove the existing siding or cover it up. Are they going to add any insulation and / or vapor barrier? Also how thick is the siding, how wide it is and if it contains wood grain marks. All these things will help determine the quality of the siding and let you compare quotes.
Wop - Oh, I'm REAL close......trust me!!! Thinking up responses!!!
Susieq - That's good to know thank you. I know some of that from this company and will check with DH on checking with others. I think we need to get Lowe's out again as well. We had them come by years ago and they gave us a quote that including all new windows. I'd like to see what just the siding would be.

I wouldn't use any of the big box stores for siding. You can get a better price & better service by going with a local, reputable company. The big box stores never use the same crew twice, so you don't REALLY know what kind of experience they have.
Last time I did siding I got quotes from 3 independent companies, Sears & Home Depot. The Sears guy was just ridiculously over priced, the HD guy was closer, but I was worried about the crew issue (we had some rough experiences with HD doing our cabinet install for the kitchen). The 3 independent companies were not only more responsive, but their pricing was better and they use the same crews for their jobs so everyone knows everyone else and all the experience levels are known.
