My sister is coming to stay in my house for a couple of days next week. We have a cat and she is somewhat allergic. I will vacuum and use the edge attachment around all the rooms. I vacuumed the living room curtains yesterday. I'll wash all the bed covers and dust like a maniac.
There's anti-allergen stuff you can spread out on your carpet and then vacuum up to get rid of some of the stuff hiding in them, if you have any carpeting.
Get a light colored sponge (I got tan colored ones at target - they were the lightest I could find) get a spray bottle and fill with alcohol. Spray couch (wet but not soaked) and scrub as hard as you can.
I think febreeze sells an anti-allergin (sp?) spray that you can spray on couches/mattresses
Edit : the thing on the top is the alcohol "pinterest method of cleaning microfiber" I'm not sure how it will help with cat

Benadryl and visene? It is really nice of you to do all that. I am highly allergic to cats, so of course, I love them and they love me. I would keep the cat out of whatever room she is sleeping in and plan to spend time out of the house. If you clean the room she sleeps in really well and keep the cat out, and change the air filters, I think your an awesome host.
when my fil comes, we also run an air filter (one of those ones that just plugs into the wall) in the guest room. he's not allergic per se, but he has horrible asthma and cat hair and dander can exacerbate it.
