i'm going to a bday party of a 2yo, who's family is very-very-low income (i posted about them a few weeks ago, if you don't remember....they sometimes have less than $1 to spare).
what gift would you buy for the kid? i'm thinking something along the lines of diapers, or a grocery gift card..but those are boring. i want to spend less than $25. WDYT?
Our favorite book right now would be great for him - it's called "Little Blue Truck" It's AWESOME!!
My daughter is obsessed with this book. Did you know there is a sequel? . As for a present what about the very basic wooden puzzle (Melissa and Doug) or blocks?
i think a small toy/puzzle or some sensory type blocks would be best for a baby with special needs/autism. also, you giving the family something as well would be nice, like diapers.
I got my niece a MagnaDoodle for her second birthday and it was her favorite gift.
you also "won" at bjl's birthday... you should be a professional gift picker
also, i refuse to believe this. i gave her cash. what girl doesn't love money? (just joking.. i fuckingsuck at gift giving. it is probably one of the biggest things i wish i could change)

I'm so happy she loved her present!
And obviously, I replied to your post without reading the entire thing. If you'd like to do something financial for the family, a GC to BRU or Target would probably help them the most, and something small for the LO to enjoy.
I would give the LO something inexpensive but sensory like pp suggest, wooden blocks, etc. Otherwise, a little board book would be nice. My nephews ADORED most of the Sandra Boynton books and the rhyming or repetitive nature of the text in some of them might have some extra appeal. Then a package of diapers as well.
