beyond standard "let's see if i can delay mommy's departure with 76 questions" nonsense, for the most part my kid has been a fantastic sleeper and pretty good about the post-bath nighttime routine since she was like 7 weeks old. and now, thanks to the timer, she's even good prebath.
UNTIL TONIGHT. w.t.f. she lost the ability to put on a shirt or a sock, threw a 20 minute tantrum about it, and has burst into sincere, hysterical tears each time i left the room, desperately calling for "mommmyyyyyyyyy". after my 3rd revisit to calm her, i sent in the husband. she's still freaking out.
it's 9:15. she is usually asleep at least half an hour by now.

you might have to go up. When Natalie gets like that, there is no coming out of it unless I go up there. I think they truly get past the point where they can collect themselves and calm down without help, so it isn't like you're giving in, more like taking back control of the situation and helping her settle. She'll pass out within 10 minutes of you going up there I bet.
Rocco does that about once a week or so. I agree with dot (if she hasn't already cried and thrashed herself to sleep). Sometimes the only thing for it is just to go in until they can get their shit together.
seriously. 3 minutes ago, she was a hellbeast, after an HOUR of hellbeasty thrashing and multiple fruitless soothing efforts. and now SHE'S asleep and i'm still wound up.
