J's temp has been up and down for the past 4 days, ranging from 36 (normal) to 37.9. Yesterday and right now he's reached 38.5. Tylenol brings it down, but I'm not sure when to take him to the doctor. It's Good Friday, so our doctor is closed and I'm hesitant about a walk-in clinic because I don't want him to catch something else. He is eating and drinking okay. He had immunizations (3 shots) last Tuesday. That's what I think has caused the temps. He has a bit of a cold and has also just cut 2 front teeth. What do I dooooooo?
What immunizations did he have? Only live vaccines can bring on a fever, which is us usually 7-10 days post vaccine. Have you noticed him pulling ears at all?
He had the one-year ones. I'll have to look at his record.
I think your Canadian. In Ontario I year olds are immunized against measles, mumps, rubella (1 shot, live vaccine), meningitis (not live), and their final pneumonia shot (also not live). It's pretty common for kids to feel a bit feverish during that time farm, and some may even give a measle or two. I think as long as he is eating and drinking, and not complaining of anything he'll be just fine. If the fever would go on for more than a few days I would get it checked out, especially if its not responding to medication. I know when mine had their one year shots they both got fevered, but it cleared up in a few days and they were back to their normal selves shortly. Hope your little one is the same way hopefully I helped a little. I like the immunization part of my job.
He is pulling at his ears a bit, but he has always done that and I always connected that with teething. We will see how he does today and then go from there. Thanks for your help!

No prob! I love being able to pass some of the info I've learned from work on. Hope he's feeling better soon. I've noticed when my DS got his highest fever, that's when he started getting his molars through. Baby's can be so strange with their temps.
I have decided not to take him in to a clinic. There isn't anything they could do and I don't want him catching something worse. Thank you all so much for the advice. I don't know how people did this all before the internet. lol
