Got a quote from State Farm (we have other policies with them). Holy $$$. Not sure if that is just them in general, or the way our policy will have to be, but I'm looking elsewhere. Just got off the phone w/ Nationwide and was transferred 3x before anyone could actually help me, despite the fact that I picked the "get a quote now" option from the initial menu.
Is it crazy to go with a big company here? I've never used a local insurance company, but obviously I need to get this locked down in the next month. Any good/bad/run like hell experiences with companies would be useful and appreciated.
I went from State Farm to a local company. First I had my coverage through Nationwide. Then I got a job with a company for which one branch was an insurance company. I switched to a salesperson with my current employer, and my coverage is through a company I hadn't heard of previously (Selective), but I still get good local service through the agent. And I save a lot over what I paid at State Farm.
