One of the guys I work with is leaving for another job and today is his last day. I was talking to my CW and she mentioned that she was surprised that they weren't bringing the pizza to the office and that we were going to the pizza place instead. When I looked confused and asked what she was talking about she said that he's having a going away lunch, didn't I see the invite? I checked my calendar. Newp. Not on the invite. She looked at hers and sure enough I'm not on there but almost everyone else in the office is. She was like "oh! You're not on there. . ." and went right back to work ending our conversation.
It was an oversight right? Because now I'm all anxious and getting worked up over possibly nothing. :^)
If everyone is going- they probably forgot to add you to the e-mail!
I don't know if everyone is going! I didn't look at the invite list but there were a lot of people. So that's probably what happened. My anxiety on the other hand, wants me to think otherwise.
Was it everyone but you? Are you the receptionist / person who covers calls during lunch? I've worked in small offices where the boss puled stuff like this. "Off we all go to the Christmas lunch! Well, all of us except Peter because he's covering calls. Bye now!" It's awkward and obnoxious but not personal. I'd just check with your boss about it.

I'm not sure...I didn't look at the invite list. Nope, we're in the same department, same position too. I didn't think of asking our boss. I didn't want to ask him in case I wasn't invited for some reason and have it get more awkward. I hate this social anxiety I have. Dude.
bahaha. He came over to say goodbye and CW was all (quietly but I could still hear) "did you mean to not invite Ruby?!" He was like "Shit! Ruby! I love you! I would never not invite you" Crisis averted.
This has happened to me before. One of my CWs caught me walking down the hall and was like "Hey, are you going to lunch with..... Oh wait, you weren't invited." and then kept walking. It feels shitty. I'm sorry you got put in this awkward lunch limbo.
ETA: Oh, yay! I'm glad that for you it was just an oversight. :]
