Has anyone had one before? Will I know when it happens? Does it hurt like hell? My doctor said to expect it based on how my eardrums looked this morning.
My mom had a kid blow sand in her ear when she was young, and ended up with a ruptured ear drum. I remember nights when I was growing up seeing my mom laying on the bathroom floor crying because he ear hurt so bad, and I would be in there crying and asking if I should call 911. It's been a reoccurring thing for her all her life.
It hurt like hell when it ruptured. I didn't know that was what was happening. I was so out of my mind in pain from the pressure in my head and ear. But after a little while the pressure eased up so much one it ruptured and a bunch of gross stuff drained.
I used to get ear infections all the time.Oddly enough this was the last and worst one I have had and that was 6 yrs ago. Well unless you count the one where the doctor gave me drops I had a serious allergic reaction to and my ear felt like it was on fire. But she made up for it with super good drugs.
It will hurt a lot, but then the pain you are feeling now will actually ease up - because all the pressure behind the eardrum will be released. And it will drain. Did your Dr give you instructions as to what to do if/when it happens? You want to be very careful not to get water in your ear if it is ruptured.
I want this, but for after swimming. I am CERTAIN I will be hanging out with the ex-NFL players in my old age from shaking my head around after workout trying to get some little droplet of water out of my ear.
I don't know how efficient it is for drying ears, but it is completely useless at getting out occluding wax.
