So why does the Stokke that lets it double as a high chair? Size/manuveraibility? Adjustable height? Rear facing + that wacky layout?
And, Stokke pricing ... yeah. I think the paunciest strollers on our list of possible are the Bugaboo Bee and the UPPAbaby Vista, and I don't really want to pay for the Vista.
We were looking at those fabric wrap high chairs, they seem like they might work.

Some people love the Stokke Xplory! Yes, the seat height is very adjustable. The downsides, from what I've read, are that storage space is very limited, and the frame is plastic, not steel. We love our Uppababy Vista, but it has its own downsides. It does not have a tiny footprint, and it's on the heavy side compared to other strollers. However, it also has a fairly high seat and the child can face the parent or out. And OMG I can fit so much in that basket. I personally don't like strollers that put the baby really low--Bugaboos always look oddly low to me. Same with the ridiculously overpriced Orbit stroller. Like, baby practically down by the knees. Who's that good for?
Well the Vista is only 24 pounds and folds plenty fast (once you get the hang of it!), but yeah, no pony. Sigh.
Have you gone to Tottini yet? It was my favorite place to play with some of the higher-end brands in person.
No, it's on our todo list for weekend after this one. Unless we can get to the Atlanta store they mention in Baby Bargains this weekend (shopping for babygear while traveling may be msniq's idea of hell).
I think my fave right now is the Peg Perego Book Plus. It's not too heavy (22.5-24 lbs depending on which review I read), easy to fold, and reversible (you can even fold it when the seat is RF. The biggest downside is it's not very compact when folded.

We just used one of these:
The high chair covers were just more convenient for us and it's way less bulky than bringing a stroller into a restaurant.
ETA: We have a Britax B-Ready stroller and love it. It's got a lot of storage, you can use the infant seat in it (it clicks in), or the stroller seat for 6+ months, parent facing or facing out. It looks high end, but has a slightly smaller pricetag.
Man why can't someone just make a 21 lb. fast-folding, infant-ready stroller that comes with a reversible seat and all-terrain tires ... AND A PONY!
c'mon niq...aren't you like superduper smart? build one! i'll buy it!
lol.
I really don't understand the stroller/carseat market at all. Especially strollers. The market is tiny. And yet, there are a bazillion companies in it, especially at the high end. The mass-market seems dominated by a few big players (Graco, 1st Years, etc) but even at that level there are a lot of companies for such a small business.
I guess especially with the fancy strollers, there are low barriers to entry (you come up with a design and then send it to someone in China or Southeast Asia), and big margins? I dunno.
Spun- When in the active position in the video it looks like its pretty upright and makes the seat look shallow. Is it like that really or is it just the angle of the video?
I'm not much help for these types of strollers as we got a Bob. Its big but it has worked great for everything we have used it for and there has maybe only been once or twice I wished to have a smaller stroller so it's a good pick for us
dana86, i saw in the video (near the end) the seat adjust to 3 positions, down to a semi-reclining. but i'm not sure what you mean by shallow...there's also an insert it had to make the baby sit more forward (for smaller babies). is that what your mean?
I guess in the video to me it looks like the active position is just so upright than what I am used to seeing. It just looks like it is almost to far forward for a comfy position but I think by the sounds of it that is just the angle of how the video was shot.

I thought this, too. With the other positions they are slightly reclined, so the shallow seat area isn't an issue, but with the fully upright position, the top seems quite far forward.
