I keep polysporin on hand for these, it's specifically for eyes.
My mom usually just puts a warmed up tea bag (that has already been steeped) on her eye and says it draws them out (she gets a lot). I find polysporin easier and less messy. Plus I always get the tea bag too hot or it cools too fast.
They can be contagious. And I second the tea bag thing, or just a warm compress. Should go away on it's own in a couple of days, but they really suck in the meantime. I had one last week.

I had my first one ever about a month ago. It was a PITA but resolved on its own without ever going to the doctor. I applied a warm compress 4-5 times a day, didn't wear my contacts, and didn't wear eye makeup. They say you should get rid of all your makeup and makeup supplies that have come into contact with your eye because it might spread germs and such. I never did that, just washed my eyeshadow brushed really well.

I get these at least once a year. I agree with all the above. Before I did the warm compress, I rubbed a mix of baby shampoo and warm water on the area and wiped it off.
DH had one for 6 months. It would be painful off and on and his doctor tried two rounds of antibiotics before referring him to an ophthalmologist. He wanted to try a few things too before referring to a surgeon for removal. He still does warm compresses a few times a day and uses eye lid cleaning (baby shampoo works too). I think the wipes are silly. It not worth arguing with him about. Hope it goes away soon!
